What engine 600,700,800

I want your help deciding what engine size to go with! i'm looking at cat,polaris,ski-doo. I have been told the 600 is a safe motor more reliable. I have found a 700 crossfire and 800 summit that are a good deal. what do you all think I should go with? plus why is there so many cat for sale and very liitle ski-doo? does cat suck?

M chassis cats are hard to like after moving to the pro climb xm or pro rmk, I loved my 11 until I tried my buddies pro RMK and another's xm had me sold on a new sled then I went cat again solely for the saved purchase price. It really depends on where and how you like to ride

I will not be buying that new. looking around 2000 to 2007. Its my first sled so wont be in the mountains a ton at first. right now it will be ditch,field,lake and trail moving up to mountains. Thats why im kinda leaning towards the crossfire f7 I found. But like i said i was told to stay with 600 for less prob but has also been told buy some people on this site the arctic cat 700 motor is really good. so what do you all think? thanks for all your help!!

The 700 was a bomb proof motor, probably why it was discontinued, I would buy the F7 and when you're comfortable and ready for the mountains sell it and grab an m7 or m8 as it'll be cheaper to buy than convert the crossfire for the mountains, I have heard the older 800 Doo's were good but the non etecs make me nervous

The 700 in the firecats/crossfires/mserise. Were and still are an awesome engine.

It was discontinued as most of the consumers in the 700 class were willing to step to an 800 and the production of the 700 was no longer required as more consumers wanted more power. Hard to argue the economics of tooling up the factory for a 700 cc motor when consumers are willing to by an 800.

To the OP - if you can handle the power and fuel consumption, buy the 800. Eventually you will outride a 600 or 700 and want the 800 anyway. 800 will have better resale and will open your options way more as a buyer, there aren't too many 700's for sale and lots of the 600's are great sleds, but not a lot of them for sale either. I would say if you are buying new, get a new Cat 600 in the new Chassis. For buying used - If you want a 600, try and find a nice 600 Doo, they were really good sleds. Otherwise, any of the Doo 800 or Cat 800's will be good sleds, just stay away from the 07 Doo's.

I ran my 06m7 for years it's takes a lot to get board of that engine GREAT SLED! Had 7000ishk and just did 2 top ends for preventive measure go with the cross fire 700 it's a great all around sled with a solid motor that will get you home every time or even a m7 stay away from the f if u want to mountain ride there tracks are way to skinny

u want reliability, fun, good price find a clean low millage m/c 700 lean towards the m if your buddies run mountain machines and u want to do more then 1 mtn trip a year and lean towards a c if u are more interested in flatland speed and are happy with goin to the hills once a year tops

my m7 went anywhere a m8 xp xm proclimb rmk pro went just took me a little more zigging and zagging to get to where they were

I own an '05 M7 that my wife rides. It has been a great sled for us. Problem free nice amount of power for a beginner rider. I'm not a Cat guy myself but there are lots of good deals out there on the M series. I wouldn't be afraid of an M8 used if I was looking. I wouldn't be afraid of any Doo 800's either, I have always had good luck with them. Haven't blown one yet and I've had Doo 800's since '02

Ive had both, the 600 and the 700 cats. Both great motors. Sold the Xfire 600 this past summer... sad I did. But I might have my 05 M7 153 for sale right away. Good solid sled.. should know by the end of the week if the new one is coming... :) If your interested, send me a PM.

I am a doo guy but I know the 700 cat motor is one of the best motors ever built! Cat hit a home run with the m7! My wife had a 162" m7 I put a few things like y pipe, SLP big air horn kit, MBRP can and a Camo 2.5" track on it and that sled out climb most sleds! Might not climb as fast but just didn't stop going it just tractored along.

It depends how big a person you are wether a 600 is even in the option. Say if you are a larger person, 250lbs plus, it might be a little underpowered. Not sure what weight would make the most difference but is something to consider if you are bigger.

Thanks for all the help. I think i'm going to go with this crossfire because I cant find a good deals on a doo. Plus this is my first sled so I think anything will make me happy because I don't have any knowledge to judge by.

The crossfire would be a good find, however if you don't get the 700, find a 800. I know of people getting 600's because they feel that a 8 will be too much, however the 8's came a long way. Power is all controlled simply by your trigger finger and it's there if you need it at your command or you can ride them nice and tame, both options won't hurt the motor.
