That is the thing I was missing this Christmas. I live in Calgary, and the rest of my family is back East in Ontario. I don't travel back for Christmas often, I just hate travelling around the holidays, so I usually try to get back later in the year to visit (though my family doesn't make any effort to come visit me out west). I've gotten used to being away from my family at Christmas, but I have always been with friends and my girlfriend, and being with them is what makes Christmas special. However; this year I have taken a job working up north at a diamond mine where I work a 2 and 2 schedule. This year my rotation has me working over Christmas and New Years, which is pretty rough. They do a good job of making Christmas a special time up here, for those that have to work over the holidays (Santa even came by for a visit on his way home). But it's really hard to replace being around your friends and family during Christmas. So, it's great to hear all the stories of everyone's happy Christmas' with their families. Makes me smile.lots good hauls ...and I really like that there were so many people that were saying how much they liked the smiles on there familys face... that the biggest gift a person can get.
