haha cant wait to see this thing on the snow and i think what he will be goin for is a back up sled so the only expectation will be that it gets a guy home at the end of the day im sure hes not expecting a very "flickable" final outcome

When you ask for dudes opinions on something, you're gonna get them - and some aren't gonna be what you want to hear. I don't think anyone was trying to be negative, they're just putting their $.02 into the convo.

Obviously you've made your choice, I'm sure it'll be rad. Building a mod sled is kinda like building a hotrod...it's not about practicality and it sure as hell ain't about smart financial decisions. It's about fun and adventure and drinking beers in the garage (something you've obviously got handled).

So get on it, we're watching!

I say good luck and hope it goes well. I've built many mod sleds and none of them were financially viable nor did they probably make any sense. Half my fun is building and wrenching and the other half riding - looks like your the same

build has stalled at teh engine mount and cutting stage ...

waiting for roommate to get back from camp so we can bounce ideas around b4 it gets ugly ...

my thoughts on the rt is, $2g to rebuild the motor and hours fiddling, or $3g to $3.5g for another one complete and cracking ...

play a silly game with this one and buy another is my plan ...

or ... does anyone want to buy the RX1 motor ???

That's a vector engine. I know it fits better, but I think it would give enough support you could hack out the steel support in the bottom and still be plenty strong.

For sure man. Will be a cool project. And it also sounds like you have some sentimental value in the ole Yammy motor. Will be fun to keep racking miles up on her in a different chassis.
