Husqvarna all the way. Picked up a new 323r about 5 years ago and use it commercially. Just keeps going and going. Will out perform any comparable cc sized stihl in a heartbeat. With the proper harness and handlebar that's been adjusted to balance properly, one can work all day without getting a sore back. And they are lighter than other brands if comparable size.

that is the one big reason the wife can run our husky trimmer. even with the blade on it is so well balanced it doesn't fatigue her. the harness and bar settings are infinite, can't say enough good things about it. I also have a 5 year old Stihl chainsaw, it starts first or second pull every time. also just bought a brand new 445 Husky, a bit smaller than the Stihl and makes a perfect little saw to haul around in the commander. I don't think you can go wrong with either brand, you get what you pay for.

To the person who's wife couldn't start the stihl trimmer, please give me a call at work. those FS 55s are so incredibly easy to start, something must be up. Normally it is NEVER that we see a stihl back for warranty stuff. the last 2 dealerships, we maybe saw one that had to utilize the 2 year warranty. If something is up with your trimmer I'd like a chance to make it right. Here are some things that will effect the simplicity of starting:
1. Always, no matter what.. use the stihl mix oil. 50:1 ratio. It is specifically designed to work with your stihl equipment, containing a fuel stabilizer, plain and simple it just works. those who insist upon running other mix, or a mixture at a 40:1 ratio.. will potentially find a gummed up carb and fouled plug.
2. Starting procedure. I don't know how many people, have come saying they can't start their saw/trimmer/hedge trimmer.... 1. prime your trimmer, you don't have to worry about over priming these new ones.. push the bulb till it is squishy... 2.. full choke.. pull till it misfires once... ONLY ONCE... click it off full choke then start it ... if you continue to try to start it on full choke, it will flood... foul your plug... etc......
3. Use fresh gas. It helps to dedicate a gascan to your stihl products. The tiny gas cans. 5L are perfect. One mix oil for that jug.. Write on it.. Trimmer.. or something so everyone knows what is supposed to be in that can. Gas is never mixed up, and it is small enough to ensure fresh gas is maintained.

My Honda 25cc 4 stroke is at Glenns in Rocky. It wouldn't run right( bog, die, etc) I noticed the primer bulb was cracked so I gave it to them when I took a water pump in at the same time for repair last winter. The dude replaced the bulb, wouldn't run right, replaced whole carb, still won't run right. He's pretty chapped about it too! Lol they stihl have it! We bought a Husky 4 stroke and it looks identical to the Honda??? Wtf? Its equally as gutless as the Honda... Shoulda bought a 2 smoke.

I have a homelite from home depot and its been super finicky since day 1, had it four years now and it gets the job done but if its more than 20 degrees out im the only one who can start it and keep it running, half choke almost always once it warm and keep it pinned, going to buy a stihl today

Have a straight shaft Homelite that has been surprisingly good, $80 ish @ home depot about 3 yrs ago. Didnt expect much out of it, but no problems. Stihl if you can afford it.

I'll put my Husky 323R up against any stihl of the same size any day. Kinda curious actually to see how it'll perform against the newer stihls. Ran against an older FS88 for a few seasons. Not saying it was a bad machine, had a lot of years of abuse before it had to be retired. But the husky was lighter, better on fuel, quieter, less vibration and more powerful.

Realistically though anyone considering on buying a new trimmer would be a fool not to consider husky or stihl. Sure they're more money (Husky being the most expensive), but they will give you years if use even if totally neglected.

I think you nailed it there, the last thing is before storage empty gas, idle till it stalls and boom your done, refill next year with fresh mix/gas and kill some weeds

I'll look today, with which model # I have. I see more finish landscaper's here in the South with Sthil than Husky.

I will admit, that both my Stihl vibrate a lot, but they have never let me down.

Your last line, sums it up!!!! If you want quality, spend the money and buy a Stihl or Husky!!!

Either way you can't go wrong.
