QE2 Southbound lanes closure:
Highway 2 is closed in the southbound lanes at Highway 12 at Lacombe.
RCMP – Provincial Travel advisory:
RCMP advise Highways are in very poor driving condition across the Province. The Highway 2 is very slippery and there are multiple collisions on going between Edmonton and Calgary. Highways to the north of Edmonton have snow accumulation and blowing snow which has caused poor visibility in some areas. Highways south of Edmonton are in poor driving condition and there are several vehicles that have slid off the road. Please use caution and be aware of emergency vehicles. RCMP Commanding Officer, Deputy Commissioner Marianne Ryan has recommended you do not travel unless it is necessary. If you have to travel please ensure you are prepared with proper emergency clothing and equipment.
Freezing Drizzle Advisory
Freezing Drizzle Advisory in effect for: Calgary - Airdrie - Cochrane - Olds – Sundre - Okotoks - High River – Claresholm. An area of freezing drizzle has developed in southern Alberta this morning, with a heavier band located from just northwest of Airdrie south through Calgary and on to Claresholm. The freezing drizzle is expected to taper off this evening. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Freezing drizzle can produce thin, hard to detect layers of ice. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.
Please cancel non-essential travel in these areas.

Sounds like travel in either province BC or AB is not suggested.

FYI
[h=1]Winter Tires and Chains[/h]Winter road conditions across most of B.C. often include snow and ice. Rapid changes in elevation and weather can make the province's highway conditions unpredictable. You may start a trip in sunshine but face stretches of slush, ice, heavy snowfall or compact snow along the way.

Drivers must obey Winter Tire and Chain signs throughout the province from October 1 to March 31.
Sections of highways requiring or onboard are marked with roadside signs. For passenger vehicles, chains on summer tires are not an acceptable substitute for winter tires on signed highways.
