Snow day????

A long period of widespread snowfall, with total amounts of 25 to 35 cm is possible Wednesday evening into Friday.

Snow is expected to move into central Alberta Wednesday. The snow will move south into Calgary by Wednesday evening and continue southward through Wednesday night towards the American border. The heaviest snow will begin late overnight Wednesday into Thursday. However, there is still uncertainty where the heaviest amounts will fall. The snow is expected to end Friday.

A winter storm watch is an alert for the potential development of severe winter weather. Persons in or near these areas should be prepared for developing adverse weather conditions and should listen for updated watches and possible warnings.

###

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ec.storm.ec@canada.ca or tweet reports using #ABStorm.

Well, that just means I have to get my sled registered

Get on it. I will send you a pm next time I am heading to the farm or better yet send me your cell number. I am going sledding all weekend somewhere within an hour of Red Deer. Have to go pick up the an enticer for the vintage ride before Saturday.

And freezing rain around the Edmonton area. Going to be a slick morning commute. Take it easy on the roads tomorrow for those folks heading out anywhere.

Heard on the news, that the hiway to gibbons has vehicles stopped/parked all along the hiway, due to the icy roads(from the freezing rain yesterday) and now the blowing snow, with zero visibility... Estimated 200 cars, just sitting on the hiway, the rcmp says
