I've heard about using tape on the bolt and what not to pop off the primary. I was just wondering what bolt I would need for an 08 m8? And a little more info about the whole procedure would be great.

Not sure if it works on a cat. Reason it works on a TRA clutch on a ski-doo is because the clutch has a threaded portion inside it. You use the stock bolt with thread sealing tap on it. When the cavity is filled with water, and the threads are sealed on the clutch, turning the bolt in creates hydraulic pressure that pops the clutch off.

If you fill with water and thread into your crank, you're just going to break the bolt.

If you search in the Doo sections, there's quite a few threads on the subject.

for your cat you will need to find a bolt the same size and thread as the puller. or you could take a cat puller and cut the end off where the threads end.

Just use the bolt from your primary, wrap well in teflon tape, tip sled over then fill cavity with water, tighten till the clutch pops off,be careful cause the clutch will make a loud popping noise at it pops and make sure it doesn't land on the ground when it does pop off.

It is a 9/16 -18 unf thread bolt, something about 3 inches long should work.

My clutch bolt is the wrong size to do this, that seems to work for skidoo's not so much for M's.

You can also use grease as well. Little messier but was easier for me in my highly condensed garage didn't have to tip the sled over lol

I had some bone head put a clutch on with a impact , when I tried to remove it i had a 2 foot snipe on the 2 foot braker bar and i was standing on it. I removed the puller put the sled on its side poured some oil in the hole reinstalled the clutch puller and hit it with the impact and pop it came off. When the clutch is installed to tight the friction of the puller in the crank is to much the oil has no friction. Oh ya I teflon taped the puller. AND make sure you get 8-10 turns of thread before you impact

DON'T hit bolt or puller with hammer. This is hard on crank bearings and alignment pins that go into the crankcase/bearing.

Tip sled on side. Fill the clutch hole with water. Take your 9/16 bolt and wrap 4 times on first row with teflon tape. Second row (continuous tape) of tape go 6-7 times. Start to thread in buy had first. Then hold clutch with one hand and use ratchet with other. You will start to feel pressure on the ratchet and then it will go Bang and pop off. Just make sure your holding that clutch. It could go flying. If you dont get it the first time Try again, and put and extra wrap or two of tape on it. This works so good.
I used gas fitters tape last time(yellow and thicker) worked really good. Less wrapping of tape. Both work good.

And yes on the 2008 m1000 you can use clutch bolt(maybe other years of m1000 i dont know) .Bolt threads through the clutch then into crank.
I know m7 you cant use clutch bolt because it just threads into the crank and wont give you pressure where you need it.....
