I decided to look up their warranty and there is only one year. We never buy the extended warranty on stuff like this so I guess we will just go buy another one. Not much else we can do unless we fight them.

I think we had the exact same washer in the video. A whirlpool duet. The bearing went on it , and it would shake like a mofo. We had it 6 years. Repair guy came out and said anything over 5 years now a days is considered good. But being a bit cheap and trying to get a little more life out of it, I put it in the shop for my work clothes. Threw in a load and did some yard work. About 5 minutes later that thing was doing the funky chicken like in the video. Was scared for my life!

I was just looking around and instead of buying from the Brick again they have the same one at Costco. So we will buy there. They add in an additional one year warranty as well. Plus its cheaper

I was reading on some forum and a repair guy recommended buying the simplest top load washer available. IIRC the thread was about very expensive repairs on nearly new washers, circuit boards going bad etc. Simple machines last 30 years.

Thats weird we had a 20 year old maytag top loader if something was out of balance it would shut down and a dinger would go off. I would only assume something a lot newer would have the same feature and shut down.
As for appliances last only about 5 years a coworker has a 5 year old kitchen aid fridge and the fridge stopped working but the freezer would work. He called Sears they sent out a repairman told him it was 2 models old and wasn't worth fixing to expensive and told him no one makes anything for 20 years anymore they want people to change them out more often. Didn't sit well with him called an appliance repair shop they came out and it needed a $40 cylinoid to switch the freon over from 1 side to the other and $200 callout and good to go

In June we picked up a new Samsung top load. Brought it home and couldn't get it past the set up mode. It would violently shake in any spin mode. Read some reviews after and alot of people would set up boat bumpers to protect their walls. The one we got had an obvious flaw so I took it back and got a heavy azz front loader which has been good. Congratulations on getting four years. Thankfully no one got hurt. Give it to Samsung as best you can!

We went with a Samsung front load 2 years ago - With 2 kids, a dog, and 2 adults, we make a lot of laundry. I'm very happy with mine. The only thing I've had to do to it is clean out the filter on the front of it a few times cause it didn't feel like draining. We bought the absolute largest beast of a thing we could - so happy we did, I can wash my king size duvet, the duvet cover, and the sheets all at once!

We measured ours 3 times before we bought it to make sure it would fit in the laundry nook in our laundry room - on paper it fits - in reality the washer and dryer both bubble out in the middle and we had to cut out some drywall! Oh and completely remove the entire door and casing and all the trim and curse loudly (a lot) when Kevy and I were installing LOL

Stopped at costco on the way home today and picked up the new machine. Not really looking forward to removing the old one and installing the new one lol. Maybe there will be some tea involved.

Got the new one in. Got the old one in the back of the truck ready for the dump. The old one was sure a lot more heavy then the new one. Not sure if that is a good thing. Looking at how it is put together there isn't much holding that drum in place. Kinda scary what little is there.
