Why can't Joey be on here, so he rides a Yamaha, not the best, but he likes it. I don't know who made all you experts god of snowmobiles. The kid likes his mm so just help him extended it like he wants or leave him alone. We all started some where, not all made right choice but that's how we learn.

I think Yamaha is junk and I,ve never worked on a old Viper but a sleds a sled. So Get the longer track,&tunnel extension. get longer rails from ice age,, you could go with rail extensions too, cheaper then rails but longer rails is better. Longer sliders and that's about all ur going to need.

wait........hold on a second.....helpful advice...? on exactly the question I asked....? whats going on?

I don't see any advice. Just someone agreeing with you.

People offered advice with the hope that you will have even more fun sledding.

Sorry Joey. My tapatalk is acting up and the thread you quoted wasn't showing the right one when responded.
I've heard rail extensions are not the best way to go but it could be impossible to find 151 or 159 rails for your sled.
Just be careful how much you put into your sled. I have a friend that put lots of money into a 02 summit and didn't notice much of a difference.

apology accepted, and thanks for the advice, I will buy a new sled next season I think, if I do it will be a viper. now i'm debating doing that and leaving my sled like it is for this season or not. if I do extend it I will probably grab a new skid

Don't forget to grab an air rivet gun at PA or you're gonna have some real sore hands!

Hey, Joey, I have a 98 Vmax 700 121". I had it since new. LOVE that sled. I wanted something bigger and badder and now have '13 RMK Assault. And wow, what an animal! I love that too! Anyway, the new Assault was so different, I feel like I have to learn how to ride all over again. It's amazing what the new sled is capable of and how it reacts to rider input and body language compared to my Yammy.

Back to the original post. I was looking at long tracking it too, to spend more time in the mountains. Have a look at Hartman Inc.

Hartman Inc ? Ride the High Country

They specialize in all Yamaha sleds. They have some great looking kits to mod your MMax. That was who I was going to call and talk to about the long track kit for mine and they have some good prices and I think duty free shipping to us Canadians. That's a way to save some cash too. They also have a lot of good advice on the set up of the suspension and clutching of our older iron. The site says to call and talk with the owner and he will personally point you in the right direction for what you would need. He could probably tell you if it's better to go with the Nytro skid or not. Oh, and nothing sounds better than that ol' 700 triple screaming! Ha!

When you're all done, post some pics!

"That's great advice but your wrong" is basically what you just told a handful of mountain riders.

Your first trip out on your under powered 'long track' is gonna be a piss poor waste of money. Your going to be stuck everywhere you go and your going to piss the people you ride with off.

Everyone can have an opinion, but the facts are there. Old chit sucks. Get with the times. With an actual mountain sled.

You asked for advice, we gave you proper experienced advice.

Yamaha serves its purpose... on trails of ontario. Mountains yamaha blows unless you want to blow WAYY to much money, just to keep up with the 2 strokers. All the viper is is a glorified cat chassis with a 4 stroke stuffed in it.

But go ahead, shoot your self in the foot, ignore the guys with years of experience in the mountains, waste your money. Hell even I've got 10 years experience now.

Happy trails. I actually I hope I see you on hill.
