I've rode Mt Washington by Cambell river before, but is there any good riding closer to Victoria at all?

might be down there in the new year and wondering if it's worth bringing a sled?

thanks.

All the guys from Vic come up island. Anything good on south island is usually locked behind a gate.

I interviewed with the mine in Campbell River and they flew the wife and I out for a weekend to have a look-see. I was impressed with the snow on Mt. Washington, would be kind of cool to live in a place where the boat could stay in year round yet world class skiing & Sledding is only 20 mins up the road.

Nothing colder than -8 celcius. Usually just below freezing in the alpine.
We were around Whistler a few years back and temperature was great. Seemed to get rain going up and rain comin down but man alive the friggin snow up top was unbelievable. Ran into a couple guys doin tours up there and he said What you doing up Here?? We replied UHHH we are lost. LOL I guess we were on their mountain. Nice to tour around but a long way from Edmonton.

Some guy tried to claim that he owned a mountain a few years back that we were riding on. He must have thought we were a bunch of idiots. I asked him for his lawyers name so my lawyer could call him to discuss the matter. He all of a sudden didn't own it, mumbled, and off he went. A land baron who owns hundreds of thousands of acres, if not millions of acres in land, for sure has a lawyer, and could drop his/her name in a second.

Ya we weren't too worried about it cause the next day we were lost in exactly the same spot. Lol

Kanedog 2015-2019, thanks for the good times S&M!

I would love to know who said that and what they meant by “what are you doing up here?” Nobody owns any backcountry and any tenure holder can not block use of the land. Don’t take no guff from nobody.

What area was it? I will open a Kanedog Bureau of Investigation(KBI) case if necessary.

I live on the shore of Shuswap lake, and own the land only to the high water mark, not an inch more. If someone is walking down the beach in front of my house, not that I would be a prick about it and say anything anyway, but even if I was a prick, and wanted to say something I couldn't. Lake front only means to the highest recorded level of the lake. So technically I have some lawn and a fire pit on public land I don't own if anyone ever got technical about it. Yet I have seen some people try to tell people not to walk past their house, because it is their land...which is a lie.
It is the same thing with those who claim to own all these mountains we ride on...they are public land.
