It says in the first sentence nearly 150 injuries. But i would definitely take thaccounts from the local media here and people that live like 10 miles away LONG BEFORE any other news source. Even the police cheif chu said it wasn't fans, it was people that came with a purpose andthat was to riot. Funny how they didn't mention about all the windows that are boarded up at the bay how they have become a condolences wall and thousands of people are writing on it constantly how this is not vancouver, it was thugs and people appologizing for a small number of peeps actions. And how there was a VERY LARGE NUMBER of canucks fans that came out and volunteered to help clean-up the aftermath.

Good on those peeps. If i was in the area i'd have gone out to help clean-up, but i live live 8-10hrs away.

I agree 100%. the total amount of injuries is irrelevant to what happened. The important thing is to know that despite how unfortunate this situation has been there seems to be a silver lining to all of this..... that most citizens do care about their city. Pretty amazing to hear and see all the great stories of people in Vancouver stepping up and volunteering to help clean without being asked but because they wanted to. Also pretty amazing is the messages being written on the wall of plywood over the broken windows of the Bay (apparently over a block long). They have ran out of space and now started to use sticky notes and apply them to a VPD cop car. One officer was just about in tears with emotions from people coming to thank him for their actions. I sure hope the world media picks that up instead of just the negative thing.

I love the whole it wasn't the fans thing.....I'm not grouping fans together guys but come on.......yes I realize that there are always the guys out just for the party and just to start chit but to say none of the people involved are fans is BS....I'm sure when edmonton rioted on whyte there were fans involved.....maybe not all...buy there were fans there....not all of us hockey fans are responsible citizens, and there are those a$$ hats who really thought their team losing constituted it. I understand defending your team and city but let's be logical here

I never said that there were no fans at all involved. What i said was that the people that were there to start it and such weren't fans there for the game. How many fans go to game with gas and maltof cocktails. Not to many fans that i know of. I'm sure that some of the fans took part in it all but out of over 100,000 people that were outside during the game it was a small % that started doin crap then more people joined in as the "mob" menatlity started to grow.

But all in all as far as i'm concerned they should be reporting and talking about the massive outpouring of support and the good things that have happened the day after after and since.

who said none were fans? There definitely were fans caught up in the bizarre aftermath. But the riot IMO was not caused by PO fans for the loss. That may have added more fuel to the fire but was not the trigger.

With the people that showed up to riot it wouldn't have matter if they won or lost they would've started doin there crap anyways. SAD!!! There was even one guy that had a shirt made up for it saying he was in the riot.

Anyone who thinks only a few hundred people are to blame is retarded. Tens of THOUSANDS are to blame. If all the decent people had left, it would of few enough left the cops could of handled it a lot better. They had plenty of time to leave. Everyone seen it on tv, people just standing there watching things burn, just egging the people on. People who just stood there and didn't leave are just as guilty, they are just adding to the fire.

it is typical human behaviour to stand around and watch. Dont you remember school fights with two guys fighting about about 20 others egging them on. Or a car accident on the side of the road not interfering with traffic but everyone is moving so slow to take a peak at the accident. Same goes with the riot, most people were watching the gong show take place and yes some did participate but not thousands like you said.

Yep but it's guilty by association. I guess it's ok comparing what kids do to grown adults  And even a lot of kids are smart enough not to do that. Only horrible drivers have to slow down to catch a glimpse of a accident, once again the lowest common denominator of society. Anyone who didn't leave is responsible for the damage, enough said. No one wants to take responsibility for anything they do anymore, it's just pass the blame....But I will agree the people who stayed are idiots and not very bright!
