That’s real cool, a few of us always wanted to barge a few sleds and a camper down there but never got around to it.We traveled about 80 km from town one time, some cool chit down there. That was around 25 years ago🙂
Yeah the amount of old cabins, abandoned pieces of heavy equipment, and a couple of mines around kinbasket lake are crazy. Never knew they existed before I lived here. Definitely have to have a boat to get to these places

This event took place on a trip in that area that I could not make due to seeding crop in early May.There was a convoy of 11 decks that headed down the lake with Kuster leading the way.The whole deal came to a grinding halt with the road being washed out. With the whole group discussing their options at the lead truck Kuster starts unloading rail way ties from under his deck.He had anticipated the washout from previous trips, they built a makeshift bridge across and half the convoy turned back at that point. The rest continued on after carefully crossing sketchy bridge.Numerous ones that have relayed that story were blown away to see that,a few of us were not lol!
Man Jim Custer must have been something else to ride with! The stories if that guy are never ending

I have a big aluminum tub that I’d like to use to do some exploring on Kinbasket

The David Henry is amazing but only after the ski lodge shuts down and like Jorge said if your on emerald ridge your in the park and have been for a ways! Incredible terrain, maybe not the best snowfall in the area but without a doubt a great opening day ride!
I'm not even sure about Howard creek, is it still open?? Always felt it was a long, low road ride in for nothing special! Haven't been there in 20+ years!

howards still open, long haul. Cool area but doesn't get much snow unfortunately. i do enjoy the terrain in there

Actually Carl was the bridge builder lol!Yes Jim was amazing to ride with, very humble but exceptional talented rider in back country, seen it many times where he was on a low HP sled helping some guys on big iron get out of a pickle. One great memory of Jim was him riding “Skully” a full mod 650 triple no belly pan,big plastic paddles that he pieced together from odds&ends. He came wheeling out of the trees by Lakeveiw at Clemina ski’s backwards with both tie rods end broke, looking for me as I had spares in tool kit.He introduced a ton of people to mountain riding and they always had some amazing stories riding with the Great One!🙂

Is there a good boat launch up there to launch a boat with an RV?
The boat launch is good for an rv, but only when the water is high enough to use it. There are 2 really cool boat launches up canoe river that feeds into kinbasket, but both are on private property.

Thank you. I have came up from Donald into the Kinbasket. Not from Valemount down. I believe Chrisco and others have came in from the north.
