hey all, this may be a silly question, but I’m trying to see if I’m allowed to ride on the east side of kinbasket lake. My parents have pictures and stories about riding the entire east side and even showed us the access points over the summer. Not sure if it’s an actual allowed area now. They rode it in the 90’s . The area I’m talking about is in the black circle

We nearly lived down that side of the lake for about 10 years,how many km did they travel down the lake?

On the north end of the lake, they were going on a trail that’s extremely grown over now, but the trail lets you ride an area so far back that you can see highway 16. Not sure if that spot is okay to ride anymore. It’s south of Yellowjacket and Dave Henry. Then on the south end of the lake, they would take a landing craft and boat the sleds down to a cool area near goosegrass creek to see the abandoned underground mine and trappers cabin there.

That’s real cool, a few of us always wanted to barge a few sleds and a camper down there but never got around to it.We traveled about 80 km from town one time,some cool chit down there.That was around 25 years ago🙂

Sounds like your parents were badass!! That’s awesome.

Those early exploring stories always amaze me! I can listen to that stuff for hours while looking at maps and day dreaming! Old iron, no google maps or Sat communication just raw route finding skill and determination! True pioneers

David Henry goes all the way to Moose lake, you just cant go anymore due to the provincial park

The David Henry is amazing but only after the ski lodge shuts down and like Jorge said if your on emerald ridge your in the park and have been for a ways! Incredible terrain, maybe not the best snowfall in the area but without a doubt a great opening day ride!
I'm not even sure about Howard creek, is it still open?? Always felt it was a long, low road ride in for nothing special! Haven't been there in 20+ years!

You could get to Jasper/hwy 16 from ptarmigan too not sure the status of that road for winter motorized. Done it on sxs. That would be further south of Dave Henry and Yellowjacket

My Bad it would be Apland ridge not emerald that looks down in the highway! Not that you would ever be there because of the park!

This event took place on a trip in that area that I could not make due to seeding crop in early May.There was a convoy of 11 decks that headed down the lake with Kuster leading the way.The whole deal came to a grinding halt with the road being washed out.With the whole group discussing their options at the lead truck Kuster starts unloading rail way ties from under his deck.He had anticipated the washout from previous trips,they built a makeshift bridge across and half the convoy turned back at that point.The rest continued on after carefully crossing sketchy bridge.Numerous ones that have relayed that story were blown away to see that,a few of us were not lol!
