You can say no. But you are only increasing the chance of getting a ticket if something isn't 100% on your vehicle.
Lets say you get pulled over, he is doing a routine check in the area. He asks if he can look in your trailer:
Scenario#1- You say no, he then looks over the outside of your car with a fine tooth comb. If he finds something even minor, like a burnt out licence plate light, he can be a dick and give you a ticket. Your time is wasted, you pay a fine and the cop is a dick.
Scenario#2- you are cooperative, friendly and grant his wish and let him look inside. He finds an infraction, like a unsecured sled. He has the right by law to not let you proceed unless it's safely tied down. I am willing to bet that they would let you go with a warning.
Scenario#3- Same as number 1, but they find nothing wrong, and you are let go. Is it worth the hassle if you're not hiding anything?
Scenario#4- same as #2, but they find nothing wrong. You thank the cop and they, and you go on your merry ways.
Scenario#5 same as #4, but you are a dick, and they find nothing wrong, The cop will remember you and will pull you over for no reason at all every time he sees you.

I can see the "why not" aspect and the "if ur not hiding anything whats the problem" but then i also look at it in the way that cops start to think that its their right to do what they please when they please and if you decline and stand up for ur rights theyll find some way to peg u even tho youve done nothing wrong. Dont really like the idea of a police state and it always starts with giving in on the little things.
All that said im not sure if i would let em look or not. I might, but then again id prob tell him to " beat it, why do you need to look in my trailer?"

We have been pulled over once in Valemount and were just asked to show the officer that the trailer brakes were working. As far as HID lights go, the only ones I find anoying are the the factory projector ones that seem like they flash when ever the vehicle hits a bump or almost seem like they give you a shot of purple.

I was told once that they weren't allowed to go into the sleeper of my truck, only the cab. got stopped at a checkstop one fall on the Chinchaga road where there was DOT, Fish and Wildlife, and RCMP stopping everyone and they went right through my truck. said they were looking for drugs. they lifted the sleeper mattress and bedding, but stopped short of looking through my travel bag. thought it was kind of strange

Your right, they are not allowed to search a sleeper without a warrant or unless you give permission. It is given the same legal rights as your home.

Are you saying you have stolen sleds in ur trailer?
Im no gambler but i would bet that if somebody did have stolen sleds they would most definately deny a cop checkin inside their enclosed, wouldnt you think?

free info for my learned friends: if they are asking drug or alcohol questions and havent read you your rights(arrested) before asking these questions. It is a charter violation, and any lawyer worth his fee can defeat charges. double edged sword but you do have the right to refuse. you can ask on what grounds they are wishing to inspect your vehicle and if you agree to his reasoning so be it. if he finds anything out side of the scope of his reason for searching he will have a tough time making it stick. just sayin...

bit more than that to it, but if you are pulled over for hiway traffic violation and during the course of it they start asking "other" questions without first concluding their traffic stop, and telling you they are entering into an investigation, then you definitely have something a lawyer can work with. if they pull you over and start with the questions different situation all together, they have checkstop laws that they use to get around the charter arguement

This sort of attitude is exactly why a lot of BC / Canadian residents treat impaired driving like a god given right to be defended at all costs. Sort of disgusting really given how many innocent people die each year because of it. I'm happy to answer any sort of questions if it keeps the rest of us sober law abiding drivers and our families safe. Enough said. If your not doing anything wrong then you have nothing to worry about.

Does anyone know the answer to this? Its my first year with an enclosed. Its a triton with factory D rings is one tie tie down front and back enough? I dont really know where they'd go its tight with five in there lol
Iwas thinking of putting super clamps on the front and one tie down for the back? (I dont like those little factory tie downs I think they are weak)
If the people who are paid to enforce the laws in this country can't follow the laws them selves when doing so then the enforcement had no point
