How much money do the sledders put into the community and the RCMP figure they need their share I guess.
I guess the law should turn a blind eye because of some potential economic impact.

Ever wonder how many times these guys have had to clean up the mess behind a few adrenaline filled, drunk assed sledders?

Uumm ... You sayin I have the attitude. Far from it buddy.

"Prolbly be picked on cause some cop is on a power trip and wants to prove himself tho. "

"How much money do the sledders put into the community and the RCMP figure they need their share I guess. "

Just saying there are bigger crimes out there than tinted windows.
so I guess we should put stars on the cops vehicles, the one with just one star only look for small crimes, the vehicles with 2 stars should look for bigger ones, until we get to the cop cars with 5 stars, they only investigate murders and drug cartel's.

Simple fact, aftermarket tinting your windows restricts your visability. You may feel safe and comfortable on the flatlands, but now you want to come out to the mountains in the winter time, travel when there is a good chance of poor visability, blowing snow, ice fog, dreary conditions, yet think its fine to head out with already restricted vision.

What bothers me is people who think because they are from one part of the country, the laws from their areas should be fine anywhere, with no consideration for the dramatic differences from province to province. They come out with what ever is acceptable in their area and when they are pulled over here, its always the cops fault. They are power hungry and only there to give you a ticket to collect the fine money. These same cops are expected to save your a$$ when you screw up, they do some preventative action and you get all pissy. Do you have any idea how many times that stretch of highway is closed due to fatal MVI's?

Allot of you guys need to give your head a shake.

You should have seen some of the illegal rigs in Revy last weekend. Jacked up overloaded trucks pulling 4-placers, hockey puck M/T's on a rear end sagged down with incorrectly housed HID's pointing to the sky. Lots of them LED light bars left on on the highway blinding the oncoming traffic, too. The Revy cops should be writing 'em up like they seem to do in Vale!

Apparently I have been misunderstood. I have nothing but respect for the RCMP and appreciate the job they do. I seem to have offended and hurt someone's feelings on here and for this I apologize. I understand that having tint on my windows is illegal and will accept the consequences. I guess I should have had the original owner remove it. I hope all us "flat landers " don't upset the BC folk the way I seem to have.

Over loaded jacked up trucks hauling 4 placers. Who puts a lift on a 1/2 ton (assuming 1/2 ton because it would take more than a sled trailer to over load a 1 ton)? And MT's on snow are a no go unless you stud the hell out of them but even still not the best.

When someone breaks the law they should be punished for it (ie limo tint on the front windows, no trailer lights, no break away) but I don't believe in fishing to tickets like pulling out the tape measure to see how high off the ground your flaps are...or the rcmp officer who pulled into the lot after we passed him on the way to the staging area to ask us why we were so late to the area that day

No sh!t. Asked you why your not a early bird. Wow. He wouldn't have liked my answer. For the record I am friends with a few RCMP members and they are shocked at some of the valemount stories

Maybe he was doing exactly what others have asked for and was keeping an eye out for thieves? Something a bit out of the ordinary, somebody poking around the lot after everybody else left. At least he was showing a presence.

There are three sides to every story.

sorry it doesn't resrict your view forward it makes it impossible to see on into the car. the only safety it has is for the cop to be able to see into the car with the window up which they should it has nothing to do with your view out the side because u can't tint your front window

Yes, but is it legal? Alberta has more lenient law regarding highway safety. If you go in the ditch in Alberta, you might hit a fencepost. If you go in the ditch in B..C. the result could be off a cliff. In general, B.C. has tougher guidelines to follow.

Unfortunately the police are first respondents to fatality accidents on the highways and are the ones 'scooping up the brain matter' when they get there. Harsh but true reality. Therefore I guess they can enforce all they want.
no I do have rig set up for bc but why should I have to worry about a rule I may not no because i'm not totaly up to date with all the rules u have in bc or all the laws they have in alberta. Yes I do agree the police should look out for the law breakers but ive gone through valemont my share of times and some of the local cars and trucks that are on the road are scarry so what are they after for safety or is it just a select few. just asking. Yes they do check stop in revy since their was one done several weeks ago but u don't seem to hear about the petty things that are coming out of valemont happening in revy.

I suspect the reason they approach those arriving late is that there have been problems in the staging areas around Valemount with thieves arriving at the staging areas later in the day when the parking lot is full of vehicles and everyone has headed up the hill. They are breaking into trucks, stealing laptops, cellphones, GPS units, etc. If the RCMP in Valemount are starting to check on those arriving later good on them because that means it is less likely that I will find my truck has been broken into when I come down at the end of the day. I feel better knowing they are doing this and I suspect if you told them how you felt about this you would not be doing yourself any favors as I have learned the hard way that mouthing off to cops does not pay off in the long run. This topic has been beat to death and as I have mentioned in other posts because of the large area they cover Valemount has a lot of cops per capita. The probablility of being stopped by a cop in Valemount is much higher than in Edmonton it is just simple math. Having said that if they are out there enforcing the law making the highway safer and putting a scare into potential thieves I would much rather have them out and about than sitting in the A & W all day. If you are not doing anything illegal in Valemount you will not have any problems and if you are asked what appears to be a stupid question it is likely just the cops keeping an eye out for thieves and if it keeps the thieves away then it is worth the inconvenience.

Every ticket I have ever gotten I deserved, and they usually knocked 15k off the speed when they wrote it up.

What I reeeeeeealy hate is finding out yesterday that ICBC sent me to collections after sending mail to an address I haven't lived at in 7 years!
My fault for not paying right away.

Tint on the windows is great for keeping nosy crackheads from scoping out your back seat but for some reason I always thought guys with super dark tint on their front door windows in beemers and jacked up city trucks just didn't want other people to see what a geek was driving that sweet rig.

We also did not mouth him off or say anything negative to him, we just told him about a late day sleeping in and that we were leaving Monday night so no need to rush to the hill at the crack of dawn to ride that Sunday. Actually questioned as to why he had a motorist heading to town pulled over (with out his lights on but never mentioned that) and began talking to him. Said the guy was doing 130 fishtailing around corners in the rain (death wish?) and that he would soon transfer to Fort Mac. Driving that highway frequently we told him he would have his work cut out for him but welcomed their presence on there so hopefully we don't die in a head on from someone doing 180 trying to pass 15 cars at once.

I do like them keeping an eye on lots, its just the tone in his voice that got to us especially when he proceeded to say "have a good day and Valemount appreciates your Alberta oil money dollars". I felt that was a little off colour is all. Not sure if he meant is terms of supporting the local business or not but seeing how he was looking at the truck and trailer at the time, I took it to mean vehicle infractions. We did not recieve any but it was just the vibe we all got. Truck is brand new with nothing illegal on it as it is used for both personal and work related trips.

that's exactly what the cop that ticketed me for tinted side windows told me like 15 years ago, said they have to be able to make eye contact with the driver. never thought about the walking up to the vehicle aspect.
