I didnt have a trailer! just 1 sled in my truck. I had tint. he coulda wrote me up on that. he had no cause to even stop me. just a routine check. It really doesnt bother me... It kinda makes me laugh every time I get stopped! I work in the patch I always speed too! I think its good they are checking guys out. If you may have read my posts in other threads. If you have all your ducks in a row and like you say know a little about the law you wont get tickets.

I actually got stopped in Medicine Hat minutes from where I live the other day by not only 1 but get this 2 cop cars...both with lights on and sirens...i pull into a parking lot, roll down my window, cop walks up, says the standard, 'licesnce and registration...', I look at him and calmly and politely said nope...not until you explain what I am being pulled over for...Well you have tinted windows and thats a $25 dollar fine (or $65)...Im like 'really'? 2 cars for a tinted window stop?? No explanation...Then he starts to explain that AB law states that its a safety issue as tinted glass breaks differently. I says to him again 'really'?? Wanna explain that to my 3 children that ride in the BACK of the truck where the windows are legally tinted...

No ticket...have a nice day, smiled and moved on...

hahahahaha!!!! Thats the exact same BS I get about my tint! No worries dude. I just got a new truck 2 weeks ago and cant stand not having tint on it yet!

Factory tint is usually coloured glass and will break like clear glass, aftermarket tint is a film and will hold the glss together rather than letting it break into a million pieces. I don't know if there's an actual safety issue and I have mine tinted too but thats one reason why (plus a visability issue) it's illegal to tint the front windows. This seems to have no effect on the rear windows though cause I don't think it's illegal to tint them, go figure.

OR......ask the COP why is then that it is LEGAL in Manitoba to have tinted front windows and is Illegal in Alberta. They have different glass in Manitoba. I went through that with the RCMP.......end result have a nice day was said to both parties.......

I think the problem they have with tint is not being able to see what the driver may be doing as they approach, so ive heard anyway. Didnt know it was legal in manitoba but do know it is in some hotter sunnier states, should be here n the okanagan too, that sun can heat the f outta ur vehicle at times.

The laws regarding window film vary from province to

view mirrors.

from what i've heard in this new economy is with certain depatchments with a tight budget go harvest the highways, the rules are rules, and if you're right fight them. any the funniest thing i've noticed is that a very very very small percentage of bc sledders travel elsewhere, why would they the snow is in there background. and us lucky guys have to pound the pavement to get there. and yes i've been pulled over and blown a couple times, but i try very hard to be within the law.

WTF is the point of a jerry can if you are not allowed to transport it???? kinda defetes the purpose of it don't it???? "Hey Mr. You can fill that thing up here BUT you are not allowed to take it anywhere unless you walk"

So by that logic if I launch my boat into a BC lake.... I'm not allowed to go fill jerry cans to replenish my tank unless I walk???? I would have to pull my boat and trailer it to the nearest fuelling station??? If it is illegal to transport fuel in BC why is canadian tire allowed to sell jerry cans?

Ok , time to clarify this bitchfest! Are they ticketing for uncovered off road lamps. Or uncovered factory fog lamps? They cant ticket for uncovered factory fog lamps as they are standard equipment and dot, transport canada, etc approved, if so that ticket would be thrown out. Off road lamps I can see!

Also the tint debate is so bloody stupid, I've had tint all around on every vehicle I've owned since I was 16, I've been tickets before and will continue to tint, dont care, will deal with it. I've argued with cops before about it and they say they can see if the driver has a weapon as they approach which is B.S. as far as I'm concerned cause I asked the cop, sure you cant see what the driver is doing but what if there's someone in the back seat (which you can have the windows painted if you want)with a gun pointed at his head as he approaches. He stood there with a dumb look for a minute and stopped writing the ticket.

I got the window tint ordeal in Edson a few yrs ago. They said if i dont peel it off and go too the cop shop and prove it when i get home, it will be on record and the next time i am pulled over and the tint is still on they will tow the truck, and i will have too peel it in the compound.

There are 3 gas stations there, I am sure premium is no problem. 2 are upgrades in the last 3 years or so. Fuel is no problem whatsoever.

Factory fog lights are not even worth the hassle & time to turn them on. Keep the headlights clean & good to go.
As for RCMP handing tickets for fog lights, there effort & time could be spent on more valid violations.

Exactly. What they are good for is, blinding oncoming drivers. They get brighter in your eyes the closer you get to the knobs using them just cause they have them. I think some people drive with them on just in case they come into an area that has fog, just so they are prepared. I kid you not.

Just get tired of all the city people bunching all farmers in the same boat!!Alot of farmers maintain their equipment and don't have to take it somewhere and rely on the mechanic's word that everything is operating!!But with anything it just takes one or two 'typical' farmers to get all farmers painted with the same brush!!

I hate when people paint others with the same brush. It simply isn't fair.

holy you guys i really didnt start this thread for everyone to judge everyone elses equipment, or how they go about their business, but just to let everyone know that they were on a mission to piss off albertans again and my misfortune is someone elses gain hopefully. maybe ill just get a bc plate and bolt it on the front of my truck and then they will leave me alone.

I don't really believe for one second they are on a mission to piss off Albertans.
I do believe they are on a mission to protect others. The cop can't be blamed for you having Alberta plates or for having any safety issues with your equipment.
