Good day riding with Ron, and for early season snow is setting up good and snowed most of the day so will be fresh pow for anybody heading up. Most creek crossing aren't bad to cross except one to come out will need ski pull ( Chappel) . Seen a couple of the new Lynx sleds on the hill and they seem to work good.

We rode Chappell creek today. Snow all the way from parking lot. Several creek ceosibgs. One In perticar is a little bit difficult. Some mud patch’s to go trough. Trails pretty bumpy but a lot better than expected. 2 1/2 to 3 1/2” fresh pow. Visibility was quite now. It was snowing quite heavy when we got back to trick. A new Polaris 850 blue it’s engine 2 km into the spine. Brand new sled, first ride out, feel bad for the guy. Thanks to the guys from Cold lake that gave us a hand. It was a good day. Got back to truck and there was at least 3 1/2” of fresh snow in parking lot. Just heading back to Edmnton, nice long day but worth it.

You must have a few kms on that rig now Ron. I figured you would be on a new one this year for sure. Mind you; putting you on a boosted sled might not be the best idea either.

Sorry all, the intense lower valley rain and warm temps are not helping, but it is only Nov...

We are trying to get things ready for you all as soon as the conditions allow and it may be sooner than later so please stay tuned to our website. If you are planning on getting a seasons pass, please do so asap to avoid any delays in processing once the grooming season does begin.

Access to Allan and Chappell are both quite horrific and not recommended for newer riders. That being said, if you can get through the painful access, you are rewarded with some amazing alpine snow levels.

For those who use our website for the most recent updates and access conditions, we apologize for the confusion this weekend at Clemina Creek. Things did not go as planned on the industrial side of things. Currently there is no access to the recreation trail from the main staging area and the rest of the area is very busy with industrial activity. We are working closely with Ledcor and Trans Mountain to find a safe and workable solution for the very near future.

The cold lake crew all seemed like a good group, hope to meet them on the hill again and ride

As Curtis (VARDA) posted the trail access is the issue and agree with his statement great conditions up top but trail is not for beginners and as he said may be best to hold off a few weeks. For Chappell numerous creek crossing but one is getting bad to cross and most likely will need a ski pull, more sleds that crossed the worse it got.

Yep that one crossing is always bad until the groomer can fill it in, I've been in an 80+ sled lineup at that crossing first week of December and that's not fun, especially when your the only one in that whole lineup with a tow strap to pull guys up. We had to stay to the bitter end that evening.........

Wow 80+ sleds and you were the only one with a strap? That’s scary. What do these guys do if they have a problem in the back country?

That’s exactly what we were thinking, this was also back in 2011 and some people still werent even wearing beacons then so…. Lol , we showed up at the end of day just as it was getting dark to the lineup about 30-40 sleds back and people were using a couple 10’ ratchet straps trying to pull sleds up, we were asked if we had tow ropes which I had a couple, one with a hook on both ends and another sling style lightweight one, both about 20’ long, linked them together and pulled our sleds through, butted the line and then stayed and towed every sled through, roughly 40 more sleds came down after us, about 5 other guys stayed and helped, was a long day lol
