We've been quiet lately but certainly not idle.

Many of you have heard about the access issues up #clemina due to the bridge washout.. For the last several months, #varda has been working with government and stakeholders to work out a solution for the winter access route for the 20/21 season.

It has been a struggle, but we are happy to report that we are now fully confident in our access to Clemina for the seasons ahead.

New routes, backcountry hand poured concrete and bridge repairs all went down last week, but the winter access is in!

See you all very soon!

PS, it is now a great time to renew your membership if you have not already done so. There is a cheap and easy $40 option if you do not require a seasons pass and this simple membership is so valuable to our local and provincial club. You membership does matter! Please consider signing on this season. Get your membership HERE

Knock on wood.... been playing in Valemount for years without radios and haven’t had any critical needs. Kids are getting older and starting to venture places that my old ass won’t go!!
I’m absolutely convinced that radios are a must this year (cause dad gets worried). Anyone with a variety of experience and exposure to different radio platforms you care to share?
Appreciate any and all help you can provide. Not too worried about price point, just Looking for “reliable” peace of mind in the alpines.

Ray Mason and Dave Narona are both on here and sell the Baofeng 8w radio packages. Look them up.

Besides good outdoor knowledge a radio is the most important safety tool.IMO. Avalanche safeties important but you’re way more likely to crash, get stuck in a bad spot, or just flat out need help. Radios are a must. VHF is what my group rides with.
