Re: Reeds On A 1000 Doo??

They Don't! The reeds in the 800 made a little difference(throttle reponse)
The 1000 didn't do a damn thing.

I really like threads like this as well (except for the last 20 bantering posts...but that's ok too).
I love hearing the pros/cons of motor builders. It must be understood that these are opinions or things discovered by "that persons" tesing.
Keep the good info/insight flowing.

Cheerz.

That's the best part, and how we can all learn something new to try (or not to try). Information is always free. It's what you choose to do with that info.

I like to sight an example. I have spent two years trying to clutch the Diamond Drive on my Crossfire. It has been extremely frustrating at times. I tried a lot of different setups and types of systems. Cruised the forums endlessly seeing what others were trying. Got into some big discussions. A few people knew what they were talking about, others were out to lunch. All of us challenged each other. Ironically, at the end of it all, I ended up very close to some of the setups the highly experienced tuners have already figured out. But based on my own testing and racing I think I have a better system. Just my opinion! I took waht I could learn from others, and my own experiences and tried to improve upon it. It cost me some money, but I learned a pant load about the diamond drive and what makes it tick. To me it was all worth it. I now have my own information to share and am willing to spill it all. No charge! I want everyone to have as much fun as I. So along comes a thread about reeds....always a hot topic. Again, a chance to share and a chance to learn at the same time. My mind is open. Hey, we are all looking for any edge we can get over the next guy. That's what keeps the aftermarket alive.

I absolutely love this sport and want others to enjoy it as much as I. It's all about fun. Personally my intent is never to sound like I know it all, I don't. I have a very inquisitive mind and like to figure out why things work the way they do.....and share that info.

So that's my Friday night rant. Keep the tech talk coming. My favourite part too.

I will try and find a cross section open diagram of reeds and cages so you can fight with pictures. Easier to undersatnd.

Well here i'll make this even yet more interesting. On an M1000 when you install V-force reeds you must trim the throttle body boots to fit the new cages as they have extender tabs that on the stock reeds actually fit inside the reed cage. So my question to the gods is, what does this do to your crank case volume ?????
