no experience with the rzr 1000 but the maverick 1000 renewed my faith in sxsing as i always found it boring. that thing is fast, soaks up the bumps like crazy and is generally a blast to drive. im sure the rzr is no different. the maverick did have a few issues in its earlier years but im sure any new model now is going to be extremely reliable for you.

they are both great machines... some food for thought... in the racing world right now... the rzr seems to do very well in lots of the dessert events ... the maverick does well in the mud circuit ... in cross country its neck in neck....I was just down at the high lifter mud nationals and there can-am swept the poudium again for 2014... but that's in the leagues where many mods are allowed... ask questions, get opinions and read articles.. weigh everything against each other and then make a choice.... they are both excellent machines...

Before dropping any green, I would go test drive, its is no different than buying a new truck or car.

Agreed.. A&E in brooks is a dealer for Polaris and Canam and have a test track out back. I went in there with a plan to purchase and my mind was totally changed after a test drive..

My brother and I both had xp 900's. he now has a maverick 1000 and regrets it. It is a lot more durable than the Polaris but it lacks in fun factor. Also he barely got stuck with the 900 rzr and that Mav is always on a winch. They definitely don't have as good of a 4wd system and the weight hurts it also. Mud. Skeg. Snow. It's stuck more often and he hits holes stupid fast. I haven't owned a rzr 1000 but I would guess it rocks. Also the new wildcat x is super reliable finally and way cheaper. Another guy in my group have atleast 1500 km and no issues yet

Hard decision! What's your relation ship with the dealers in your area? Both are great looking machines and would probably put a huge smile on your face! I like the Maverick but the rzr is pretty sweet.

We currently have the 900 rzr. We are looking at the 1000 rzr or Maverik for 2015.

Tough decision what to do.

The 1000rzr is having its share of issues, it needs a year or two to work out the bugs....The mav is nice but a 900 rzr is a little better in our area,,,IMO. Both great machines, but i think the new wildcat X is right up there as well.....also.

The bigger 1000 utvs are pretty dune oriented ,and a little big for our trails but in the open spaces they rock. At about 24 to 28K, (set up)they are starting to price them selves out of the market.

All three are great machines ,and i am not sure any one is better than the others........More often than not it depends how you set it up and dial it in for where you ride, apposed to the name on the side ,in this case at least !

Thanks everyone for your help. I did test drive the maverick rzr and wildcat. Sorry you cat guys out there but the wildcat 1000 is definitely out I did not like the power and just doesn't feel right to me. Price was better but it wasn't enough to be a game changer. I like the suspension travel on the rzr but do I really need it out west. The rzr doesn't have enough storage space in the back but the maverick does. There is a lot of things to take into consideration for sure but I think im going with the maverick

How is the pricing on the rzr vs maverick? I expect the maverick to be a bit more. From what I've seen it still has a better fit and finish and more features.

They are not giving the 1000 rzr away! I think they start at at around the $22000 mark , but not a 100% sure.

When I looked a month or so ago it was something like that at the bike show.

I looked at Maverick xmr already snorkeled, tires and air suspension.

1000 rzr would need snorkels, tires and a lift and a winch

So I think in the end nearly the same price.

I might have forgot a few things.

Do some research on each machine but like the above poster mentioned dealer pricing and service is so important as well

22000 for the rzr? Seems pretty steep since I just got my maverick xmr for just slightly more than that..

if you buy a can am make sure you have money for new diffs as they go left right and centre.
