how much do you love guns if you would of had your 6 year old in that school, or your teenager at the movies, or your wife at the mall...

i have guns as well, but could give two craps if i never pull a triger again, they need to start doing something, and that will carry a big effect

One funeral is today and the other tomorrow.
We sent 2 members from our department to attend both funerals..

Very sad situation...

This case sounds like more of a hole in the rehabilitation system, and not gun laws. I would bet soon that there will be a check on every household before the rescue crew goes in. Probably in the likes of a database showing if the person has a history of violence. A team would have to do a background check on the people who live there while the fire crew makes their way there?
Many in the U.S. are also against healthcare. Let the less fortunate suffer from lack of care... Guess what, those are probably the ones doing all this.

Sure, the guy wasn't supposed to have guns, looks like he needed psychological help, but this indicates that attaining a gun is quite easy for ANYONE. Make it harder in general to get a gun, it will reduce the number of incidences of gun violence.

Sure, you can own a gun, but prove to me that you are worthy of being a responsible gun owner...

Everyone say it's not the weapon, then why don't we just let north korea, or Iran have nukes? There has to be a system of some sort to prevent certain people to attain weapons.

yes it was the guns that killed the people, if he would of had a bat or knife, the killings would be far less and alot more work needed.... having in possesion a automatic riffle that shoots 3 rounds per second with 100 to 300 round cartriges is a big reason why so many died

those poor six year old kids had to be like deere in the headlights, standing frightened in one spot, getting taken down one after another.... makes me sick just writing this and there is guys protecting this gun...

sad sad sad

There are more weapons out there then bats or knives. If the crazies want to kill a lot of people you really think they are going to use a knife or bat? I would suspect they would use homemade bombs. Or vehicles. Think about it.

Uhmmm lets see....... how about because the people in those countries are insane! Again, it's not the inanimate object that is the problem, they can't act on their own.

Sorry but inanimate objects don't have a mind of their own. When was the last time you observed a gun climb out of it's safe, insert ammunition up it's a$$ and run into a school shooting people?

And thus the control. Do you agree there has to be control, so the "insane" people in America have a harder time aquiring guns?

Just think if rosie o'donell had spoons of ice cream everywhere... She would get fatter and fatter.... You can't blame the ice cream, or the spoon, but it still is a contributing factor.

I think it is a generation thing.

The U.S. has to teach the next generation, that they don't have to live in a society so driven by violence. It's everywhere.

Who is "we" ?? Let's not forget that we are mostly Canadian here.

I'm glad to live in a country where I can walk the streets at night in a city of close to a million and not worry about getting shot..

Do that in the U.S. in a city the same size. If Canada's gun laws are so terrible, why live here then?

Imagine if that knife attacker had a gun? It would have been quicker, and much much more fatalities.

For you folks that blame gun control, please have a look at this link. Do we need to ban knives too now?

China School Knife Attack, Portland Mall Attack Receive Little Coverage

Banning guns would be like banning drugs. It doesn't work.

I personally believe that we need more guns. To defend against and have protection from the crazies.

I am a Canadian. I am proud to be.

I think more people ought to own guns. We in Canada do not have any reason to look down on our American brothers. We come from the same blood. We have some very sick people in Canada too. I believe in my right to own a gun. I also believe that the death penalty should never have been removed. I also do not agree with prisoners rights. I also believe that if you are on welfare or unemployment insurance, you should have to be drug tested.

I do agree in policing the purchase of firearms. Background checks and a license to own a gun makes sense. This teaches gun safety and the responsibilities and accountabilities of gun ownership. Everyone should have the right to follow this process to enjoy gun ownership. That being said, if you give up your right to own a gun by committing a serious crime, then it's your own fault.

Obviously our opinions on guns are different. I am also betting that our opinions on government are different too.

I would like to know who you think that you are judging a Nation and offering your opinion to a country that you don't belong to? Get off your high horse.

I bet the guy in Edmonton that was just murdered on the LRT would still be alive if he was able to defend himself. This is while everyone watched and did nothing.

Speak for yourself. Not sure what you are talking about. You refer to this thread about the states as "we"

Show me where I judged a nation. I have a right to an opinion, just like you.

And I don't know what you mean about us not agreeing on anything I agree with your point (post #36)

Or maybe someone else would have been killed what with his 'troubles in the past' as they put it in the paper.
