I scooped it off her facebook. her dad was the foreman, very nice guy. he drove from Grimshaw down to Camrose and retrieved my retriever, so I just let it go.....my wife was ready to shoot her. they aren't done yet, they have to come back next spring and my yard is still a mess with their dirt pilings they couldn't finish because winter came. I decided it would be best to keep peace with them until my yard and land is returned to it's former pre-construction state. anyone here that is my friend on facebook knows the saga....I blasted it all over that joint....

Let me guess you have a dog named tee-cup who you put booties on every time she has to tinkle and don't forget the sweater incase she gets cold and carry her around in a little bag. Come-on I live on a farm my previous dog would have loved being tied up outside rather than stuck in the truck. Just don't forget to untie...LOL

I've only taken our dogs when the whole family goes they love it. However when we ride they stay nice and comfy in the enclosed trailer with lots of food a water and their dog beds. I agree sometimes a doggy daycare would be nice but some of those places are just a money grab and it's like putting your dog in a jail it's hard to know!

People that bring dogs anywhere p me off. Like i want to here those yappy fawks on my holiday. Or have my kids playing in a playground while you see these dogs doing there duties on the rocks or the sand . leave them on the farm!!

responsible dog peeps are the ones you never see or have to complain about. obviously, we are vastly outnumbered.....I could say the same you just did about a lot of people's children.

So there are lots of things I see in staging areas that bug me a little. I hate picking up someones beer cans, but I will do it anyways. If people choose to drink and smoke up in the staging area, each to their own as long as you are responsible.

But the past few seasons I have seen on several occasions dogs being left in trucks for the day, okay fine, atleast they are inside, but to tie them up on a 3 foot lead to the bumper of your truck while you go riding for the day? Yeah sure its a dog, they can withstand a little cold, but to be out there for 5-6 hours, on cold snow covered ground with no shelter from the elements and no food/water being left for them. Oh sure, they can eat the snow if they get thirsty enough, that is, if it isn't an ice covered parking area.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are some negative comments from people, I am sure maybe even someone who uses this forum does that very thing. But those dogs don't have a choice to be tied up out there. Last time I checked not many people speak dog and ask if they mind being left there all day while you go ride. If having a pet is such a burden you can't make proper arrangements for them when you take them with you on your riding trips then don't take them along.

Most towns have some sort of dog daycare available, heck even places like Sicamous have great place that you can drop them off and they can hang out for the day for a small fee. That or kennel the dog in your home town.

Its great you can afford your new quadcab diesel, sitting on XD rockstars and fancy new sled, but really your just an ass.

WOW. I actually have never seen this. But there are some pretty f'd up people out there for sure. I would def take down the license plate and report them sorry azz hats the first chance that I got! I am an animal lover and I wouldn't even be able to enjoy my sledding day if I knew a poor dog was tied up back at the parking lot! WTF goes through some people's heads? It just totally amazes me.

Not saying I agree with it but I suspect some people leave the dog's in the vehicles as a theft deterrent.

As for being outside it would have to be a warm day with a kennel, food and water.

I bet you see this more often as the break in's and theft continue to occur.

While I tend to agree that dogs should be left on the farm so they can hang out and do what dogs do when we're not around, I also don't see the harm in having him on a leash at the truck provided that:

1. He is accustomed to being on a leash ie) won't freak if he gets wrapped up, or better, knows how to not get wrapped up
2. The guy who tied the leash did his due diligence and left it short enough the dog can't get into trouble but long enough to allow the dog to be comfortable
3. The dog is built for and used to the cold, -20 isn't cold for a dog who's been outside, but -10 is pretty nasty on a dog who's been in the house all winter. No different than the you or me running around in shorts on the first 5 degree day March vs being reaching for a sweater in September.
4. There is some shelter/water left available if the conditions are adverse (-10 and sunny is not adverse for a real dog!!)

Note that Sled Dogs live their whole life on a leash and most people aren't up in arms about them. And a six foot leash actually leaves as much square footage for your dog as a 10x10 kennel.

If I take my dog he runs along with me. and when he tuckers he waits at the truck with momma bear. so he's not alone, and if we do that it's only for maybe a couple of hours. but to leave the poor dog isn't fair to the K9 at all.

I don't agree with it and wouldn't do it. I have a lab and he is loose or kenneled, I just don't leave him tied up anyplace. Depending on what breed a day outside like that might be hard on him. Lab might be getting a little chilled, my friends long haired mountain dog would be a little hot still.
My big concern would be his saftey, he might get away, he might get let off, stolen, or just hurt by some a-hole walking by. I am sure I know what the dog will do, but you never know what other people are going to do.

Certain individuals just don't give a rats ass about anything. Whether it's a dog on the loose or your 6yr old child wandering up and down the street at 10pm at nite. So what has been posted here suprises me in the least. I shake my head in disgust and anger knowing I can't do phuc all about it because voicing my opinion to these ass hats would be a complete waste of breath. Your stupid allready, so my words of enlightenment are not going to penetrate your thick scull. We've had our miniture long hair Dashund for 4 years now and she is a big part of our family. She has brought joy and happiness into our lives. These animals have personalities and heart. When treated with respect and love the rewards are fullfilling. It's a shame some never get to see it

Anyone ever consider what would happen to the dog if you didn't make it off the mountain for some reason???? That would be the number one reason I would never leave my dog in or outside my truck while I was riding!

I agree with everybody on hear, the one thing about sled dogs is that people that own sled dogs would not be up here sleeding. There are times and places for pets to tag along, watch out for this guy on the hill. lol
