Hey guys, so it is "UPLOAD TUESDAY" and since we update our golf cart blog each Tuesday SC CARTS | Custom Golf Carts in Vernon, BC, we might as well update our sled build at the same time!

We made some cool progress with the running boards. We started tacking in all of our cross bars, repeating the same process for each side.

With everything tacked up we did a final weld on the boards and then moved onto the tunnel. Because we are moving the skid back 3.5" and dropping the front down 1" we were left with a hole from the original suspension, so to fix this we simply made a small aluminum washer for the back side of the tunnel and used a large aluminum head rivet to fill the hole. Now you can't tell it was ever anything else but a rivet there.

With the front suspension hole filled and the boards fitting perfectly it was time to separate the tunnel from the bulk head. These machines are really easy to do that with. We first drilled out the upper rivets and then removed the 10mm bolts from each side, and bingo bongo! The tunnel and bulkhead are no longer one. With that process complete it was time to send the boards and tunnel off to powder coat. Check back next week, we will have more to post!

Looks good! One thing I noticed - if still possible you might want to consider getting your boards back and adding some of your aluminum traction strips along the outer edge. With powder coat your boards will be very slippery on that outer pipe, especially since it is rounded and you have no outer ridge to bracket your foot against the tunnel. Open boards are great but they will still get some snow sprayed on them from underneath (up from the track) and acculumate some on the cross pieces and the bottom of your boot, which can make them a little slick. Otherwise there is a small plastic strip that you can rivet on that outer edge if you need some additional traction down the road. Just my observations from some of the tube chassis' I have built.

Thanks for the feedback it is certainly appreciated. Once the boards are back from powder coat we will be installing some polished studs that we are machining for them. We also went with a textured powder coat, and we also made the traction bars stick up higher then we usually use when we build our boards, so with that combination we should have some excellent traction!

The attached photo's are a couple of the other sleds we built with our running boards. These had very little traction bars and surprisingly still provided awesome traction.

Ok so Tuesday has rolled around again and time to update the build. We haven't got a tremendous amount done as we have been swamped with the custom golf carts, but we did get a chance to work on it some.

We cleaned the primary clutch and reinstalled and torqued it to spec, we then torqued the PTO extension to spec as well.

We didn't touch any of the clutching yet, by the time we install the S Charger the new track and the other changes we made we would be just taking a stab in the dark. So we are going to start with it stock as a base line and then dial from there.

Because we purchased the S Charger kit used, it did not come with the bolt template or the studs for to mount the S Charger to the chassis.

So we got a hold of the boys over at MPI and thankfully they were super helpful and happened to have this old stock stuff on hand. They no longer build this kit so we were lucky to be able to get these parts as opposed to having to make them. These small, but very important parts should be here for Friday, we will be able to continue at that time.

While we wait for the S Charger parts we moved onto disassembling the skid, we are using the majority of the skid over again however we are eliminating a the steel springs and doing a bit of custom work to it.

Here you can see some pictures of us taking apart the rails and cleaning them up.

More updates on the longest snowmobile build ever!

Thanks for all of you who have followed along this lone. Your patience is starting to payoff as we get into the good parts of the build now.

After cleaning the rails we have started to reassemble the skid.

We have decided to make changes to the skid, so the first thing we changed was the mess up front on the skid.

We were originally going to make a complete new front suspension arm, but decided that for simplicity sake we would cut off the lower bar and install a new piece of chromoly.

It worked out great and eliminated the need to build all the upper parts, like the track guides, and shock mount etc...

We finished welding the lower suspension arm, cleaned it, sanded it and, prepped it and painted it. We then mocked it into the front of the skid. We will be able to get the front shock and strap mounted next.

Also our template and S Charger studs arrived so we were able to get those mounted in as well.

Our tunnel and boards arrived from powder coat so we got those installed! They turned out awesome.

Hey Guys

So with bitter sweet thoughts we are wanting to let everyone know that we are selling this project as it sits (we will continue to post as we work on it until it sells)

The bitter part of course is that we really would like to complete this project. The sweet part is that our golf custom golf carts are so busy that we don't have the time to complete this project.

So if there is anyone looking for a project machine with the hard stuff done then feel free to send us a PM.

It will include the sled as you see it in the pictures

- 153" track cut down to proper width
- wahl bros extrovert drivers already installed on the shaft
- the complete super charger kit
- two brothers racing black edition carbon fiber exhaust can
- nytro front end and skid shocks
- freshly covered seat in carbon fiber material

and or course all the stock pieces to go back on the sled. Whatever we have for this project will go with it.

The project is not that far off from being ready to have the skid re installed, front end painted and re installed, the Supercharger is ready to be installed, as mentioned all the tough stuff is complete.

So if there is anyone who is seriously interested in the project let us know it's going out a a screaming deal!

So this maybe our last post, unless the machine doesn't sell then there will be another post:d

We installed the new Wahl brothers extrovert drivers on the drive shaft, they are are tight fit, but with the press and a bit of lotion on they went!

Next we tackled trimming the track width, this went better then we anticipated. We had thought of different ways to do it and finally decided on the dual saw, due to the fact that with the two blades there is no kick back or binding. It worked awesome!

Also we listed the sled on eBay so for anyone interested here it is, someone is going to get a smoking deal!!!
