We have used the oil one with some neighbors at the cabin, kinda a pain. Always concerned with hot oil and kids/dogs running around. A client of mine was saying he bought one of the propane ones from lowes. He says it works really well and do don't have to deal with oil.

Trashy, I've got the masterchef deep fryer kit from Ukranian Wheel, I've had it for probably five years now. Use it several times a year for turkey or wings or whatever else you can think to deep fry. On sale I think they are about $90 comes with the turkey rack, the basket, the pot, thermometer for oil and of course the aluminum pot and the burner. It's treated me very well.

Have the same thing. Serves it purpose well

Don't forget deep fried pickles. My specialty is deep fried ham though

I am interested in the ham. Have done lots of turkeys.

You have a recipe?

Yes. We had lost the thermometer once.

Long story. Oil got too hot. Above the flash point. Flaming 5 gallons of oil is a nasty fire!

Ham recipe......
Purchase pre cured ham, I like the picnic hams, cook about 4-7 min per pound depot bone in or until desired crispness.

Little trick...... cook for one hour, shave off crispy pieces and repeat until you have 20lbs of bacon
