I'd say were fairly lucky to be on machines capable of coming back up hill- What if he was the last one coming down?

That pore Btard! Those guys were useless!!!
5+ minutes to get him out of that. First guy asks for his shovel several times before someone actually does, then another guy digs lazily like with his hand. There was no reason he couldn't have been pulled out much faster than he was.

What you saw there is NOT a good representation of taking control and working well together!! Very poor teamwork!!

Buddy is lucky to be alive!!

Very good video. I also agree that it seemed to take long. The one guy seemed to know what to do and how, but the rest were pretty much useless IMO.

I don't know, it's easy to be an arm chair quarterback after the fact....
that it is real time, the guy was screaming so they knew he had air...

I think the point is to be prepared / be trained, heads up your in the back country things can happen fast and don't be afraid to take control of the situation.

i agree its easy to make comments but, you have to be organized, that many people and it took that long, if it was me i would have been digging alot faster, they were in no rush,

Only one shovel between how many people???? Definitely not people I would want to be in the back country with.

Ya, the spokesman was also ill equipped in the end of the video.. Looks like he learned a ton from his experience.... Oh wait.. Didn't he say he was doing "team building required in avalanche rescue"

No kidding. I was watching that wondering when they were gong to start digging. Dude was yelling for somebody to get his shovel out for him. Get your damn pack off and start digging. Pretty sure I could have moved that much snow on my own quicker than they did...
