Absolutely 100% believe it is blown out of proportion.........!! But it's always good to take the correct precautions and be safe!!

Whats the reason that this 'Flu" is so different that th WHO is so concerned ?

There are always concerns when a strain of the flu virus jumps species (i.e. swine to human).

This flu has shown to be quite virulent in young, otherwise healthy individuals. Usually the flu has it's greatest effect on immunocompromised individuals like the elderly and sick.

H1N1 is also of concern as it has caused some peoples immune systems to be taxed heavily enough they acquire secondary infections like Pneumonia. A lot of those without good health care have died from the secondary infections.

Oraganizations like the CDC and WHO have people who sit around all day, every day, waiting for the signs of a flu outbreak. If that was your job, wouldn't you get a little overly excited the day you found one.

Kind of like waiting for the new spring release sleds. Lots of speculation and hype.

One of the things I always find humorous is the closing of schools and public facilities. At the point they identify a sick kid or two, a sick employee and so on, that flu virus has already made its rounds. I understand that you don't want to continue the infection cycle, but once there are symptoms in an individual the infective stage has already begun in others.

On the news last night they showed a schoold wiping down every surface possible with disinfectant. I laughed. Flu viruses can only live airborne for somewhere between a a few seconds and about 2 days, depending on the surface. Any of the virus particles that survive the wipedown are ony more than happy to make another, stornger go of it.

Out motto for life should not be "ch!t happens" but rather "flu happens"....then maybe "ch!t happens"....get it. :d:beer:

So...

The CDC has made a statement today that all schools should be reopened as of tomorrow morning.

They stated that the H1N1 (Swine Flu) virus is no more dangerous than any seasonal flu.

Oh yes...they also stated that at no time had they called it a pandemic. Surgeon general commented that the "internet" was filled with misinformation. Notice he did not say the media, just the internet.
