trailer length requirements

Hey,
Question for you guys, Do you think a guy could fit 4 165's in a 22ft (18ft plus 4ft V) trailer? I currently have a 24ft (20ft plus 4ft V) and im looking to upgrade. I want the shortest trailer i can get away with in order to make it usable for 4 sleds when i need but not feel guilty hauling only 2 or even some snow bikes. As it stands rite now to get my 4 sleds in my 24ft i drive them all in from the nose face towards the back of the trailer and push the two tunnels together in the V. I measured up my 165's @ 11ft long and two deep would give me exactly 22ft but i also push the front bumper under the rear of the tunnel of the one in front? Is it doable? anyone else doing this?

Seems pretty simple to me , when you put your sleds in can you move them so you have 2’ extra at the door? If not they wont fit. Am i missing something here?

How wide, and is it a deckover? I can fit four 153/165 sleds in to a 20ft shipping container and still get 2 dirt bikes in there. Seems to me that a 22ft 8ft wide deckover would fit four no problem.

I don't think 2' is gonna make a big difference in gas mileage.

it has nothing to do with gas mileage, it has everything to do with having a long bad truck and trying to turn it around in the parking lot with guys that bring 30ft trailers for 2 machines.

well the issue is i no loner have my 24ft and i dont have a 22 ft to test out, so im asking for some feedback on weather or not im wasting my time.

I have run all three lengths with a v nose, my first sled trailer was a 20'+ v, the deck was also above the wheels so no fender/wheel wells inside. That trailer worked ok for hauling 4 mountain sleds but it was a tight fit and you had to make sure you tie them down so they could not budge to avoid rubbing the sled beside. Winch tie downs worked better than pull tie downs for that. I always buy the higher trailers (I think they are 6'6" inside) so I can haul my rangers in the summer and didn't like how that trailer pulled due to the high walls and deck over wheels against cross winds etc.
As Mike many numbers mentioned, draw the box on the garage floor or parking pad and put your sleds in it, try it with wheel wells drawn in so you will know what works when shopping. I think they are approx 5' long by 6" wide and start about 4' from back door. I think the 20' with wheel wells would be a pretty tough fit.
I prefer the 22' trailer myself.

I run a Charmac Snow Sport that is 18' in the box with the 4' in the v-nose. Put a 163" / 159" / 155". All drove in from the back. It would be difficult to put an additional sled in there in my opinion.

I have not tried a 4th sled.

4 sleds @ 165" would be so packed that they would be resting up against each other and/or the walls. You would likely need to drive 2 in from the front door pointing to the back door. 1 would need to be backed in the front door and after that, you would decide if the 4th had to be backed in the front door or drove in as well.

I always wondered when you put 4 sleds in a trailer like that how do you tie them down front and back and find a spot on the floor or do you just leave them loose in the trailer

I have tie down d-rings throughout the trailer to secure the sled(s) that don't line up with Superclamps. Also have the tracking that runs the full length of trailer on both sides that has hardware to attach at whatever location I need to use tie down straps.

I own a STF deck that I use if we need to bring along the 4th or 5th sled. Personally, I would not put the 4th sled in my size of trailer unless it was an emergency. I have owned 26' - 32' trailers in the past and sometimes I miss the space. Sure enjoy the parking access you get with abit smaller of a trailer now. Both at the staging areas and when your last back to the hotel!

16' plus the v. Deck over. We have 155 and 3X163's in there. Plus all our gear. Was tight but it worked. My next trailer was a 20' mid deck and 4 long tracks fit much better.
