I am looking at buying a 22' aluminum Ridgeline open sled trailer that has brakes on only one axle. Does anybody know if thats legal everywhere? Thanks.
I don't believe it's legal anywhere. If it was always a tandem axle it should of came with brakes on both axles. Maybe someone bent the original & cheaped out on a replacement.
depends on the weight of the trailer compared to the towing truck if the trailer exceeds 2004lbs it needs brakes on one axle(ab) or it it is more then half the weight of the truck gvw but in bc brakes are needed on all axles but you also don't need brakes at all if the trailer dosent weight more then 3080lbs and is less then half the gvw of the towing uint each prov is diffrent and confusing to be safe go to princess and pick up a brake kit and have brakes and all axles anything over 2000lbs or more then half gvw needs a brake away system also serge brakes are no good in bc
