Ok please dont hate me, I've searched and now confused.

I have a 09 154 that had 21/45 gears and I switched to 19/45. Now I'm changing to a 163 2.5 from a 2012 and need to know what gears I should switch to? 21/49?

I am running 19:49 with a 163 2.5 seems to work pretty good with stock clutching. Rode it 2 weeks ago in vale and it was pretty good but it was so socked in you couldn't climb anything but but worked good in the trees and on little pokes. No idea what track speed I was getting though or how it'll be on long climbs with stock clutching. Time will tell

Also on a 09 with stock drivers

No your going to need a new chain with a 49. Call specialty and see if they have any take off 49's. 50% off for a used gear

i stretched out from 154 to 163
geared 20/49 i cant remember if i had to change chain, i think you will, i ride up to about 7500ft, i think if you riding much higher you could go 19 if you wanted,, the 20 works good i kept the stock drivers

I'm shooting for 21/49 with 104 chain.

Im running 20 51 gearing in my one of my xp 154 and love it and the other is belt drive with a 2.52 ratio thats wicked too. You also may want to do some clutching too for that new track going on.

I have a roosterbuilt kit in and he says the same kit works great with that track. Just forgot to ask him about gearing. Im thinking it should be good. Definitely dont want to be too high with that monster track.

Ya I'm running DJ's kit and have to play with the clutching for the motor mods i'm doing anyways, according to dj the 2:42 ratios with 21/51 is a favorite and his helix works great with it. I couldnt get a 104 chain so I kinda had to go to a 106 with the 51 bottom, so it worked out good.

163 2.5 i would say 20/49 would be just about right. i think you want to be around the 2.5 and the 20/49 works out to be 2.45
