There has been lots of increased chatter within Alberta about getting away from tandem towing in the last year. Becoming more like neighboring provinces by banning it. RESEARCH.

Most people cant back up one trailer never mind two trailers. You see it lots at the hills & camp sites with people trying to turn around and back their trailers in.

there should be a course available or made mandatory for those purchasing trailers. I'm lucky to have been taught by my dad how to back up a trailer and feel very confident in doing so. Others however..... WOW.....
If you have never towed before, find an open parking lot late and night and practice driving thru there and/or backing into parking stalls.

Yup a law that isn't efficiently enforced. I bet he is close to over length without the trailer behind
Unless he has a class 1 with over length condition
Would bet overweight as well as that fifth wheel has got to put him close to his gvwr as well single wheel 3/4 or 1 ton can't tell but max he is good for is probly 18 and change

4 ft over length , fifth wheel is only 30' model combined trailer weights is 15000 lbs. I got air bags good to go ... Haha

Anyone know of a good place to get a hitch for the back of my 5th wheel. For tandom tow ismy only affordable option right now. Plus I have no worries about towing multiple trailers because I pull a-trains through the mountain's all year round.

I had my last one installed at Hitch Depot in Red Deer. If I remember rite it was around $800 to cut off the bumper and build a new one that would handle the hitch. The did all the wiring too. Was pretty decent work. Done in a day.
My brother in law has converted his cargo trailer into a summer camping unit. With some fussing he could fit his 17' outboard into it for fishing trips.
We just bite the bullet and take 2 vehicles. One for the 5'er and one for the toys. For the 5-6 trips a year with both units I'll pay the extra gas and travel safe.
I've never heard of someone being pulled over for being over length but imagine the s**t storm you would be in if you were in an accident and were over. Better safe than sorry over a few bucks in gas.

had two pull trailers and three fifth wheels now, our last trailer is a 3950 voltage toy hauler tri axle... what I have learned after crusing threw Alaska with a total weight combined of 30000lbs for a month is that tri is the only way to go.... pulls so much better than our other trailers it almost unbelievable... and love the toy hauler garage
