Towing behind sled

I found out the hard way yesterday that it was illegal to tow anyone behind a sled or quad on a rope. I've had a place at AB for years and have always pulled kids around on tobbagans an gt racers and have seen most of my neighbors doing the same.
Well yesterday as I was towing a buddy on a snowboard (slowly) out in front of our place, these two sleds pull up beside us and guess what....$57.00 fine.
I can understand no insurance or DUI but that was a BS ticket if there ever was one.
Any other guys get chicken $hit tickets at Sno Mo days?

I seen a few things that would better warrant a ticket than towing a snowboard. Did he have a helmet on at least? Seen a few sleds ripping around with passengers with no helmets. I never seen a cop all day, thought they forgot about it or something.

Really I didn't realize there was a ticket for that, I am always pulling my kids around my place with my sled and quad!....I grew up with my dad doing the same thing for me. But really 57.00 I will keep building my memories and my kids even if it is against the law!....to many retarded laws now anyways!:d

now that is lame, every family in the country does the same thing, sure sucks. good thing the fine is small. may be worth getting some legal advice. you could fight ticket or see the prosecuting attorney. the fine may not be worth missing a day of work, but the principal may make it worth the hassel?

Funny thing is I don't think that's illegal. We questioned the Fish and Feathers a couple years ago on a long weekend as drunk retards on KWADS rode around tearing ch!t up with no lids on. We asked if it was illegal to not have a helmet on (as we were getting checked for registration, insurance, and proper bike components) and he said it's legal to ride around with no lid.


Hearing you got a ticket for pulling a snowboarder is silly.

LMAO!! So the issue is that he thinks the snowboard is not designed to be towed behind the sled???

Tell him to go to any local SKI HILL where he can observe these same devices being towed up the hill by a rope attached to a motorized pulley system. ITS CALLED A "ROPE TOW" OR T-BAR!!!! LOL

Yeah - I'd say that pulling them on a "T" bar at the ski hill is pretty much the same thing.

Sounds like you got shafted dude. I'd be heading to the cop shop to discuss that one.

I'd walk into the RCMP detachment responsible (Stony Plain I assume, most AB beach stuff is handled thru there) with the ticket in one hand and a small tub of vasaline in the other. Put the vasaline down on the counter and ask to discuss the ticket. If they agree it is a farce (which it is) and retract the fine then take the vasaline and walk out...

If they give you the old song and dance about having to show up in court to disspute the charge and there is nothing they can do.. blah blah blah, then walk away leaving the vasaline behind.... before you get to the door they will say

"excuse me sir, but you forgot something"

reply.... "thats alright the next guy will probably appreciate it"

Go to court to fight it...pain in the azz but come on wheres the common sense... any judge in his right mind would throw the ticket out and probably reprimand the issuing officer with a verbal warning. you could even ask the court to reimburse you for lost wages over such a stupid issue..

I would remind them that all summer long in AB beach boats pull people around on tubes, boards, skis and ask them to explain what the difference is???

Doesnt' matter either. Not required by law.

(Not saying I don't advise it. I wear a helmet with everything I do. I probalby have 10 lids of various kinds)
