sat on side of highway 5 hours wait for deck truck

had friend drive down from dease and get and Rowe and me don't get home until 1:00 am

I was helping a stranded motorist this morning. Local guys old 98 diesel ran out of power. Had a new alternator put on yesterday and now batteries are dead. We boosted it for 15 minutes and got it running. 14.7 volts when cables hooked up and 8.4 when take them off. He made a run for town to mechanic and never made it out of yard. Mechanic wasn’t interested in helping him as he got alternator installed elsewhere so sold us two new batteries and sent him to a different mechanic and he said Napa alternator doing it’s job so must have been the batteries all along? Out of my hair. Chain smoker so now me smells like an ash tray sitting in his truck while it charged. lol
