I used to have deer issues with my garden, and I put out a few motion activated sprinklers and it kept the buggers away.

Instead of deer in your yard you will have thieves. As for quietness, think of all the ambulances/fire trucks/police sirens, kids screaming, neighbours fighting or talking loud, vehicles going by your house, and all the people walking their dogs and not to mention the neighbours dog(s) barking at all hours.
Hard to find quietness these days.
