Lol you sound exactly like me chance. I love my career but somedays not my co-workers. But where else would it be any different?

The thing is, my dad doesn't even seem like my dad anymore. He's just the boss. And I don't want that.

Thinking I might go haul grain for one of the custom haulers around here. Drive a truck that actually has a heater that works.

Oh, and that's another thing. All of the farm equipment is 2009, or newer. The truck..... Is slightly older than that.

It works, but it's in the shop getting worked on, on a weekly basis.

Would that cause hard feelings?

Yeah, i hear what your sayin about feeling more like a boss. Its a partnership here between one of my grandpas (moms dad) uncle, and dad, and they are trying to get me in but for now legally im just a hired hand. Grandpa is the controlling interest/silent partner and its uncle, dad and I that run the show. Grandpa never did farm, he always had a job managing a local egg breaking facility. I started seeing it with grandpa pry 2 to 3 years back, i wouldnt call him grandpa anymore when i seen him. I was calling him Dennis, even at family gatherings (christmas, easter, birthdays, weddings, funerals etc.). There is even times i will skip family gatherings due to something that happened at work or a decision that was made that i dont agree with, just so i dont have to be around with whoever it was that torqued me off. Now im starting to see it with my dad also. We fight like cats and dogs. As a matter of fact if one day goes by where we dont argue or disagree on something i feel like something is wrong. I dont know what to do, but i love my job when i work by myself or with uncle (we RARELY argue). This is all ive ever known and all ive wanted to do since i was old enough to walk. Sure i hope it doesnt totally destroy my relationship with family but i figure if its something i love so much its something worth dealing with the pain for. I just dont know how to put it all in words but, like i said before, I love my job, its all ive ever known and all ive ever wanted to do.

On another note, we have a truck for you with a good heater in it. It will sweat your ass right out of the cab come winter in -10F weather. :D

Same here too. I think the oldest thing we use in the field is a 2007 9620 but the truck i beat up and down the road in has 600000+ miles on it, spring ride truck and trailer, no A/C, wires melting under dash, bald tires, low horsepower, and a handful of gears. Meanwhile uncle owns his own truck, to help (not for hire) and he has had 4 to my one. Not saying i need to be on my 4th but one upgrade would be nice.

Ever thought about going somewhere else for a harvest season or something along them lines?

At least I'm not in the boat alone. I still call dad, dad. But it won't be long before I start calling him Neil, the way things are going.
Actually, my neighbor was asking if I want to drive tandem truck for them this season. I'm considering it.

Not sure why the hell youd ever want to, but if you ever consider harvest season south of the boarder look us up. We would be interested if we could make it work somehow.
