trashy- no cash! some advice i got a while back. make a list of your needs and a list of your wants. Take care of your needs first! then decide on your wants. You need to decide which is the need in this case.

to help deciding, maybe talk to a well driller get the numbers, one well already failed or failing, why drill a second? drilled well in RD is around $10,000. call around to find cost on cistern, likely way less than a well. how much water it will hold, etc. find out what the delivery charges are, compare costs. can you share delivery costs with neighbor? or get a plastic farm tank for a truck or trailer, pick up your own water. maybe existing well could be used for yard ?

the $1700+ for trip will go long ways to provide a cistern or well, up to you, take it for what it is worth!!!
