What do they do to dairy products to enable them to last so long these days??

I noticed on a jug of 2% there are 12 grams of sugar/cup. Is that added sugar or natural sugar from the cow? Does sugar give the product better shelf life?

I think it help if you don't open the fridge door for two weeks lol

One cup of white milk (250 ml) contains 12 grams of naturally-occurring sugar called lactose. It gives milk a slightly sweet taste. The body breaks lactose down into glucose and galactose (most of which is later converted to glucose).
