The heat in a forest fire dries the rain before it hits.
We need a steady rain for a few days to cool the air, and assist the fire fighters
Yes, it would but the rain reaches the perimeter and slows the spread so the firefighters can get a handle on it. Night time cooling would also help the rain penetrate the combustibles.
No fire in our little corner of BC. With the inch of rain in the last 24 hours, we should be good for a while.
When we were up north, we had one fire close to our town with ash and embers falling in our yards. Good thing the wind changed when it did.
