Ouch... If my Pa was still here I woulda had my career set out too... :( He wanted me to manage the Install Team for Teko Cranes (he also ran Kaverit Crane) I worked under my dads wing for two years too. My daily driver was going to be my company truck too.

Now I'm looking for another trade to get into after school, but I know my way around metal.

Yeah. I'm thinking hard about getting into the oil patch. My dad was a no mercy boss to me, he raised with tough love, I couldn't even spend my own money until I was 14.

I like the sound of being a pipefitter, and the pay seems good! I can deal with the camp life as well.

camp life... thats what everyone says until they get into it..... its not for a lot of people

I'd like to give it a shot. Do that for a few years, buy a house then retire to the mod yards.

oh you can definitely try it out... and hopefully you like it

but way too many people cant handle it
but i guess you do get used to it

My brother works out of town in camps. He's a supervisor, and it works for him. I'd like to give it a shot. The trades has been in my family. My dad always used to go out of town and thats why he wanted me to run the install team, so he could stay at the shop.

I always liked camp when growing up. sit around the campfire singing songs. Enjoying the simple things in life..
