Our elm trees just don't handle the early storms; leaves are real big and hold a lot of snow and they are very brittle. Our willows and the maple, just bent and hung in there.

Saw the footage on the Calgary news and what a mess there????

yes usually the willows will lose branches, the poplar are the ones that will break large branhes, but these where leaning a bit, so with all the wet slushy snow the weight was to much. no damage waas done, the tree just slowly layed on the roof. i looked at it and didn't want to take the chance. man have i got wood today lol. likely 3-4 cords split. likely more. the tree was 3 ft diameter, and had them take out 3 trees total.

Does it take long for green willow to dry? When I cut green birch, it burns best after the second summer of drying.
