They said on the news the other day that 1/2 inch is enough rain to stabilize a fire and stop it from immediately expanding. It would take 2 inches to put a fire out.
Sceptical me says I don't believe those numbers. There are too many variables. In the Fernie area, where there could be an accumulation of 30 feet of snow, the fires would continue to burn in the spring.

With some of the big fires right now, I'm betting a lot of the moisture evaporates before it hits the ground.
