2 scenario's usually in play there from what I've seen in my experience:

1. Both farmers know the sellers maintenance history and know he takes care of his chit and will pay that rather than buy used from a dealer that power washes his trade ins and throws on the lot.
2. Both farmers have been drinking heavily at the auction on tailgate of pickups then decide they need something they don't and pay to much while under the influence.

2nd is more often the case.
