I have a riding friend that has the same issue with his G4 with a tunnel dump. He never realized how bad it was till one day we traded. Its not just horribly loud but sounds more like a poormans home made pipe...nothing nice about it other then he has to ride at the back.
The good thing is, he can't hide anywhere. Funny thing is, its a new G4 that sounds more like a trashed out junkyard wrecker with no exhaust, why would anyone want that on their sled.
I guess some people have this illusion of relating noise with power...hahahaha...small minds

A lot of the issue people (the government) have with snowmobiles is the noise they make, we aren't a major risk to the environment as its frozen and covered in snow... We've talked about it as a group quite a few times, the best way to keep the focus off of snowmobiles and closing down our areas is by flying under the radar.. Buy some fuel, rent hotel rooms but keep the rollin coal to a minimum, no littering and QUIET in the backcountry so we don't scare caribou..
It will help if we all do our part to keep the riding areas open..

in all fairness if the stock can wasnt 700 lbs id run it.... the only nice thing about it is the db level. I would have to agree with some of the above statements about loud aftermarket junk, they should not be albe to sell it. Not only does it make you look like a duche, it also damages not only your hearing but everyone else's within a 100 yards of you. If someone could build a nice light weight can that had the same stock design characteristics they would clean house. This whole " braaap" bs thing some of these berta boys talk about is the reason we have such a bad rep with the locals in the areas we ride. End of rant

its no different than going random camping with a group and have some douche bag move in 500 feet away with his quad,dirt bike or sxs and has to prove how great his piece of **** sounds by riding in front of your campsite going braap braap till midnight most snowmobile staging area have at least 5 or 6 ride around the staging area trying to get everyones attention

I put a Bikeman muffler and i say muffler because its not a small can like most out there its more of a compact muffler about 8-10lbs lighter then the oem muff.
At an idle to about 1/4 throttle it sound basically stock, then it starts to have a small rap in the mid. 2/3-3/4 and up it sings a sweet sound.
The oem was 18-20lbs, the Bikeman is about 8-10lbs so its not a small 4-6lb can but its a very nice compromise.
BTW this is on my 17 Cat.

Lol you dont count, you put a turbo on anyway so it’s heavier than the stock can.
If you would of said if cans were not 400-700 bucks thats more believable.
Aftermarket cans are more trouble than they are worth, but most do not know cause the sled usually gets a can before its off the showroom floor.
Cans used to sound good, now they are tinny and horrible sounding, my buddy put a diamond S can on, and it wasn’t long before he sold it.
I think u to loud guys are confusing 2” / 3” cans with
4”/5”/6” cans witch are not ear fuking
You must be more clear on this as peeps make 5to6 different size types out there

This is why I choose to sell trail cans and not even offer a race version. There made of 304 stainless and polished. If guys want to have the lightest can I have them all in Titanium as well. They weigh 2.2 lbs- 3.6 lbs depending on which brand. The arctic cat 800 can is the lights at 2.2 lbs. There only 7db louder than stock.
