Another good Idea is to carry a couple of your (wifes, girlfriends, moms) Tampons with you.If you need to start a fire you can dip it in the gas tank (make sure u hold onto the string tight) it burns real good and is great for those hard to start fires.;):d

We were at a Jamoree in High Level Alberta years ago. Well Albert was asked for Plates and insurance. While he was digging in his sled bag he came upon his fire starters. Yes a number of Tampoons. RCMP officerv gave him the look and a very embarassed Albert had to tell how he uses them to start fires. RCMP officer just said to carry on. I guess he didnt want to see what else may come out of this guys bag. The whole club had a good laugh at that. Crazy Albert!!!

You can never be to prepared-an old boy scout trick for starting fires is a wad of steel wool and a good D battery- ground the wool across the posts and strands of the wool glow cherry red from the current-works perty slick--

thanks so much for your post H2Snow .. that list is amazing! It will certainly help me gear up my bag
After seeing a few incidents last year, and being closest i have yet to staying on the mountain it was an eye opener that i wasnt carrying enough gear or some of the right gear!

I stuff most of my emergency food( energy bars, tea bags, lighter, electrolite tabs, candle and extra rolling papers) into a coffee can. works great to melt water for a cup of tea
