I heard a rumor about a ETEC 1000 in the works. That would be awesome probably another year away I would guess or more info would be leaked already. Last spring I was told by someone that attended the Ski-Doo 2015 release show that they had been talking to a Ski-Doo engineer. He asked what we would like to see on the summits in the future, the guy I know said more power out of the ETEC 800 would be nice and the response he got from the engineer was "why not a 1000cc ETEC". Anyone else heard anything about this?

a 1000 would be a lot heavier than an 800, a balance shaft is needed to keep vibes in check, and the market is small compared to an 800, to make make big power over 800cc a triple would be best, but nobody want them anymore....

Time will tell I guess. That was my speculation too but supposedly the engineer had told him details on the crank and that they've got it so the engine would only be a couple of pounds heavier. I would take all of this with a grain of salt as this is just how I remember the conversation but pretty sure he mentioned that a 1000 ETEC was being tested!

I heard the same thing. But. I'm guessing a 850 or slightly bigger. I don't think a 1000 Doo will happen again. Cats been testing a c-tech 850 rumored to be around 180 hp. I can't wait to see what the future holds.

Like Drew I really believe a 860-872 180 hp is as big a twin we will see.
I know they have worked on a 900 triple in etec a few years back.
January we should know

Everything is possible, it's buyer pressure / demands that spur the manufacturers.

Ya don't know about that

I've heard from both a boondocker installer and also the tss instaboost that it cleans up the bottom and mid on a etec alot

2 smokes need scavenging to be effective and efficient , boost more than helps push fresh in and out

I think all brands have learned that a 1000 is not the way to go.
