Im sure most people on this site never learned in there AST course the CAA definition of high avalanche.... "Travel in avalanche terrain not recommended"

i guess when when you can't pick and choose your days you just go for it anyway

im not saying you can't go out-to some. I just think it's interesting especially when we are experiencing the worst deep seeded instability anyone can even remember in the last decade...

and how many times have you driven down the highway when "travel is not recommended"?

Knowing the local conditions, like what has slid, when it last slid, and how much is still up there is a determining factor where one can ride. It is all about what is between one's ears. I have 5 avalanche paths to cross, the rating is HIGH but all 5 are down to the ground, no hang-fire, and I can't safely ride the area (cross the debris pile)? What are you really trying to say?

What I got out of his posts from his soapbox was:
blablabla I have been in the backcountry for over 20 years blablabla I know how to predict avalanche safety blablabla the rest of you are idiots blablabla,I am drinking on a beach

You know the old saying "takes one to know one" so since he is calling people idiots.............

If anything this thread has touched numerous points and has been a great discussion. Hopefully we can all take something from the different views and apply them for safe riding! Happy trails and ride safe!

Does anyone know about this? Saw it on fb and it says thanks to JP and others for rescuing them. It was recent. My buddy liked the post and he's from Grand Prairie so maybe it was Kakwa? That Hill doesn't look all that dangerous either. Yikes.

And we do have a JP on this forum.
