I didn't see this posted anywhere so figured i would start a thread. What is this province coming to? Makes me scared for the future. Honestly i can't agree more with making helmets mandatory since our tax dollars do pay for the medical care for unnecessary head injuries but the age restriction is ridiculous and is a blatant attack on backcountry users. I have been riding since i was 3 years old and it is a huge part of my lifestyle. I would maybe agree with a cc limit on age but even that depends on the skill of the rider. A child riding since a very young age can typically handle an ATV much larger than the same age child that just starts riding.

While I agree with a helmet being on at all times ...this is the socialist NDP way . You do as I tell you or we financially penalize you . Bill 6 , the carbon tax etc etc etc ...this is the way or you pay ! This is a way to PAY for their agenda , not a real way to improve safety ...
similar in fact to Bill 6 , no study , no safety training just do it our way and if we don't like your way we will fine you ....
When you destroy a normal healthy economy ,like all NDP governments do ... They always resort to these kinds of ridiculous schemes to finance their mistakes.

I got my 7 year old daughter and 5 year old son going on a 170 rzr this summer. They are both able to drive on their own already. I spent a lot of time teaching them how to drive. I could care less what kind of law they pass, I will keep letting my kids drive it.

Some do-gooder is going to be telling you what you can or cannot do niner, like it or not. And they have their own stats to prove they are right. There is a reason for neck injuries...the stats are being skewed.

To any and all of you safety sally's out there that support new law's to protect you from
your selves, I can't wait till all of your personal decisions are taken away from you then I
will sit back and laugh my ass off at you while you whine and cry about it. When you support
more government control over your life you assume it will stop at a line you agree with, but guess
what................It won't.
If you agree with law's making me wear a helmet then I will agree with law's stopping you going to
the mountains like in your avitar pic. Because it's my tax dollar's that pay for your stupidity if you get
hurt when you are there.
That's fair right...................

In the 1960's and 70's the biggest insult you could give someone would be to call them a communist.
We hated communist countries because the governments told the people what to say and do 24/7.
Now, not so many year's later that's exactly what we are turning into. A bunch of tard's walking around
bumping into each other unless there is a law telling you how to walk.

welcome to Canada……. the New Police State. People need to start getting angry and protest on the streets against these stupid laws. As a young kid, we would ride up on the bunk of campers while cruising down TCH, ride in truck boxes, run around with no helmets on bikes…. the list goes on and on and I am still here to talk about it. Unfortunately we don't have feasible laws to protect us against stupid politicians!

Not sure if you read the rest of my post or not but i am saying i do disagree with what they are doing however I personally have always worn a helmet while riding anything with an engine and it has saved my life more than once. I feel that with government a guy really needs to pick his battles and if wearing helmets by law keeps us riding in the backcountry then so be it, thats the lesser of two evils. Putting age restrictions on is not going to help anyone, anytime, anywhere. All that will happen is a bunch of 16 year olds with no experience would start riding all of a sudden and cause more issues than when kids are brought up on machines and taught the proper way to ride and respect them.

Have a feeling we are really getting at the same point here...

Its mandatory to wear a helmet on a street bike, seat belt in an car. most atv's and utv's nowadays are capable of hwy speeds so why not have a mandatory helmet law. it only makes sense. What i don't agree with is according to the article they want to enforce the laws on private property, if i want to hop on my quad and ride around the back of my property butt azz naked ( not that i ever would) aint nobody gonna tell me no. private land is yours no insurance, no registration, no mandatory helmet to check cattle. Next there gonna tell me i can't have a beer and mow my grass.

Same hear, i remember my dad tapping a socket behind the throttle so i couldn't go fast and that's how i learned. as soon as my daughter is big enough she will get her own machine. she's just over a year now and if you let her out of your sight for a min outside she's gone and you will find her out in the pole shed trying to get on a machine of some sort. Already trying to plan out track for her to follow around the property.

Not only is she going to remove another freedom of choice for recreation but concurrently they are tabling legislation to have tax payers cover 50% of election costs for candidates. From the last election that would have meant another 8 million in tax payer dollars. I hate to think my taxes would go to cover any ndp candidate.

I know a couple and still proud of their decision so I deleted them off my facebook friends list. Lol.
I too have a few "friends" who admit to voting her in..... Same friends have 3 kids and soon both parents will be jobless and yet they don't seem to care. They are okay with sitting back on EI..... Needless to say I don't make a point of going to see those friends or inviting them anywhere anymore

As a guy who mowed his grass yesterday....on a tractor with a drink holder...I concur.

I was thinking of some laws that I think are likely to appear on the books in the next 40 years.
- Must wear eye protection while driving a watercraft
- No hands in pockets while crossing an intersection

... that's all I remember for now...

Problem lies when you fall off atv hit head and then cost taxpayers $ for medical assistance.
If you are injured without proper safety gear you should have to pay the bill.
