Watched with the family. Great doc! Gave us lots to think about and discuss as a family. I know a couple neighbours cancelled all their social media accounts after watching. Lots of good comments through the credits.

I think there a couple members on here that need to watch it a couple times....lol.

I like the line "There are only 2 industries that refer to thier customers as users - Social Media & Drug Dealers" Also "If you are recieving a service/product you do not pay for - you are the service/product"

Really has nothing to do with watching TV. It's about the phycology behind marketing social media, the art of using human behaviour to control their actions/emotions and developing that into a revenue stream that manufacturers/suppliers/distributers are willing to pay for - A much more technically complicated and behavioral based approach to the same old marketing methodology "capture your audience" that's why Superbowl commercial spots are $1M per second. This explains how they use individual bias, beliefs and perceptions to market products and from what we have seen more recently manipulate human behaviour for political gain.

They talk about the Russian interference in the US Presidential election - did it happen? absolutely. Was it orchestrated by political opponents or some grand conspiracy? No. Was it illegal? absolutely not. Foreign intelligence and media agencies found a way to utilize information readily available to them to influence a population to act in a way favorable to their cause.

What started out as a simple marketing scheme has turned into a machine that can manipulate large enough segments of the population to influence social and political agendas.

It's pretty scary and interesting all at the same time. But I believe it is irreversible so we better figure out how to manage and regulate it before society crumbles.....

I've seen a lot of the hype with this film, but have not watched it yet.

I did read the commentary from the writer/producer talking about the purpose behind the film. My understanding is that it is not a kiddy porn film but a look into the impacts that social media and society in general have on young girls. Pretty sure there is no R-rated child nudity or anything like that. It is an award winning film from the Sundance film festival and I would suspect is no more visually creepy than watching competitive gymnastics (which has proven to be a breeding ground for perverted losers in itself).

Saying that this film encourages pedophilia is like saying that American History X encourages white supremacy and racism and should be pulled. That said I have not watched it, I've read about the controversial "The Trouble with Being Born" and that one just seems down right sick, to the point where people were walking out of the theater in disgust.

I've seen a clip. It's pretty nasty, could post it if you really want.
I'll never ever watch the whole movie though, so I'll wait to get the report from others.
I look at it like chopping a dog's head off to bring attention to animal abuse, but maybe that's just me. And the 1.5 million that down voted the promo on youtube. 37000 up voted it though. Lots sickos out there I guess...

Watched most of Cuties last night to see what all the fuss was, didn't finish it because I thought it was boring as hell. I don't know WTF people are thinking when they say it's a kiddie porn type movie? It's a movie about the way pre-teen girls are acting. And yea, many ARE acting exactly like that. My 10 year old niece was caught twerking making a video for tik tok. This chit is happening everywhere exactly like the movie portrays it. There was a few scenes that I did think WTF that's going a little too far with such young girls showing that but I think it's more to really get the point across. There is no nudity or anything like that, just really young girls dancing seductively.

Yep. But everyone's up in arms when someone makes a movie about it?
