No Tupperware. Radio has a button that "locks" out the keypad.

The wife and i use 2 radio's.
Our main riding radio's are helmet to helmet communicators. Scala rider Q3 from Cardo. They are from the motorcycle world but we found they work extremely well on our sleds. Voice activated so you can communicate while riding with no interference. They are very small and attach directly to the helmet so no cords. We get all day of use with constant chatting while riding. Completely water proof. Range is limited to about 1km but best for line of sight.

Our handhelds are for long distance communication, they are mounted on our pack's and have a lapel mounted speaker/mic for easy use. VHF ICOM marine transceiver, with weather networking and SAR's. These radio's have remarkable range even in the mountain's. These are the same radio's used by SAR's in Vernon and other's.

That is true for the buttons on the front but not the ones on the side. I put mine in a tupperware. You don't want the flashlight to be pushed on accidently draining the battery and if you start hearing constant static the FM radio button might of gotten pushed.

Got a picture of your set-up? I’m guessing you drill a hole in one end for the long antenna to go though?

Go to a dollar store and buy one that fits. I drilled a hole for the antenna and notched the edge for the mic cable

I like that case better than mine. I chose a smaller one that allowed the on/off button to be accessed without opening the case. Ive only had this happen once, but I found my radio was on when I went to turn it on. I dunno when it happened cause I charged it 3 days prior to my trip but, I got 3/4 of the day out of the battery, before I started getting the low voltage alarm.

I did the Tupperware thing for a bit. But ended up just going lock button. Also, use an old sock from the wife's drawer and tyrap it around the mic. Keep the power out.

Great radios. We have 5

What do you mean by the lock button? Thought there wasn’t one ?
