No. But it is the best back country radio that you can get, (that I have seen) by far.

Baofeng or equivalent with a really loud mic. If someone is calling on the radio while I'm riding I can't make out what they're saying all the time but I can hear enough to know I need to stop and listen. I also carry a GPS and an Inreach. They all have their purpose.

I also ty-rapped an old nylon sock around the shoulder mic to keep the fluffy stuff out.

I use an InReach to mark the cabin locations and any honey holes we may find...

How many km away does the positioning feature on the RINO work?

Few km or do you have to be standing looking at eachother?

How about in the trees?

The positioning is based on radio contact so if you can talk to them you can get their position. I think it's important to recalibrate the compass on Rinos every now and then. Trees and terrain are a factor and affect all radios. I've had to walk out of a ravine/gully to make contact.

4 watt is fine considering all the other things it can do.

Also run a Baofeng UV-82 and an InReach. Those in my group are also converting to the Baofeng after using Rhino's and BCA's.

If using an InReach and setting up your account online I recommend you put your radio Freq in the comment section. Let the important people in your life know its there as well.

I picked up two of the boefangs and a in-reach last year. I got the aftermarket antennas and one for my work truck that is permanent. We have to call all the way into our sled camp so it made sense. I turn my in-reach on in the morning and throw it in my bag. I will never ride without radios now. For the price and how handy they are you won’t be disappointed. I left my top of my bag open last year about 6” and just filled it with snow. Just packed that radio with snow. Dried it out and it works perfect still.

We used to have the rhino and found out that while the are cool that you can locate your crew on the screen if they tag in they were not a very good radio or gps, not the greatest range could not program all the channels you want( we have the search and rescue, the logging truck and the local snowmobile club channels as well as a host of other channels) and the big problem is that they do not have a remote microphone on them, the remote mike is awesome you have it by your helmet it is easy to hear and talk. most times you can hear it under full throttle pulls . Because what good is a radio if you cant hear if someone is in trouble? Or you have to pull it out of a pocket every time,,,,,
As for brand there are lots of good brands,,, we use Kenwood,Boufeng( work good but find the battery life not as good) and Vertex,,, all with the military spec mic's so snow and water do not wreck the mic ,, We also bought frogskin mike covers for them,,, to keep all the water/ snow out,,, Water makes the mic quieter,,,,,,

A remote mic is pretty easy on the rhino.... clips anywhere on your collar or pack. motorolla one is like 25$

No, but it has a satalite SOS feature like inreach though.

And a built in smart phone, GPS positioning like a rhino, plus a built in 2 way VHF radio.

Interesting, I guess a fella would have to see how all of those systems are controlled to conserve battery power, and to avoid problems with beacon interference.

I personally wouldn’t want the phone, GPS turned on at all, I dont even turn my cell on now unless I want to take a pic.

It has a better battery than a normal phone.
