I would guess It's an incentive for John Deere to stay in the US. No farmer would be able to afford anything green if it went through.
All tariffs do is incentivize inefficient industries. JD combine costs $2M and it's mostly made in Mexico. Make it in the US and now it costs $2.2M. How is that helping the farmer?

I picked up the number from what someone else said on S&M. The story is the same at $1M though. Farmer has to pay an extra $100k for a combine, how does that help them?

They are very pricey. Not 2 million though.
Unless you have the most decked out combine on earth

I Can find you used x9s for 750.

And thats top of the line. But s&m would have you think every green combine is 5 million.

Doesnt matter. I know what they cost.

I know nothing about the subject but Imo countries need to stop the outsourcing of manufacturing to 3rd world countries that pay peanuts to the workers. Will it lead it higher prices? Possibly. What we're doing now isn't working Imo.
Oleary talked about a union with the US, Canada and Mexico all working together with one currency, no tariffs and open borders.

Don't buy John Deere, problem solved. John Deere will restructure quickly when sales tank and bring the manufacturing back to the lower 48. Buy Case equipment, they are made in the lower 48 so they will be cheaper.

Holy smokes ,we should do thread on farm equipment , being that we are getting old and cranky and not sledding anymore .lol .

I have been talking to myself about my redline turbo build all week.

People rather talk bs about the price of combines though. So probably be a popular thread...
